Anyone else dissapointed with the paid subscription services like netflix and hulu lately or is it just me?
So we have not had cable tv in more than 2 years. We got by with netflix streaming and dvds. Eventually we canceled dvds since there was a long drought of good dvds. Then we got Hulu and canceled netflix streaming since netflix streaming has some great stuff but we watched all the stuff that interested us. I love trash tv like the housewives series on Bravo which HULU doesn't ever have. I wish you could buy specific channels like E, and Bravo and HBO from the cable company. Those channels have all the things I want to watch but if you don't have cable the only way to watch them is to buy the dvds.... grrr

Yes! I've even been thinking about going back to cable. I love crappy television. Hulu Plus made me mad when they got rid of ABC Family (Secret Life, Pretty Little Liars, Lying Game, etc.) and MTV (Awkward. and Underemployed). Recently Netflix got rid of a lot of DD's shows and MTV. I haven't been able to find much I want to watch on Netflix.

Real Housewives makes it to hulu it is just slow. I don't love that I have to watch some shows on the computer only, like all the ABC Family shows. Still, I love using hulu and Amazon prime. It has been almost 3 years without cable and I haven't looked back.
I do pay for Mad Men episodes on Amazon and watch on my Kindle.
We've had a Roku for close to a year. We subscribe to Hulu and Netflix. I'm completely satisfied with both. I miss some shows on cable, but very few. I find Hulu and Netflix have plenty of variety. I've been rewatching shows from my past which is fun, as well as discovering new shows.
Roku also recently added PBS and PBS Kids as channels, so if you watch Downton or anything like that you can get it through there onto your tv. You'd think you'd be able to get PBS over the air, but I can't get it without the Roku or cable.

All of those are available to download from places like piratebay or eztv.

We have an Apple TV but we also have a DVR with satellite so it's not our only TV. But with Apple TV and an ipad you can also stream from the ipad to your tv. We recently missed an episode of Zero Hour on ABC (thought they had canceled it but they decided to air the rest of the episodes this summer) and were able to see it on the ipad through the ABC Go app and stream it to our TV. Sound and video looked great but we do have pretty fast WiFi at home.
