So. Usually when I visit my parents at their lake property, I stay in a two-room suite. This time, my sister has been given said suite, because, well, it's fair. It's fair, but it BITES. My kids do not sleep when they're in the same room as me - they generally wake up at 5 am when we have this arrangement, too. Uggggggh. We will drive all night and get in at 4 am, and they usually sleep 5 hours in their own room. This will not happen now.
She also has 2, and 8 year old and a 4 year old. I know it's fair to take turns, It's just killed all my excitement. I'm dreading a "vacation" where no one sleeps. Oh, and no room to move! Nowhere to put away all our stuff, etc. We JUST moved the girls to toddler beds, so we need pack n plays and a bed for them, bc we don't know which will work. I'm just so ugggggggh.
So here's the deal. Usually, there are plenty of rooms (my parents own a resort), and my sis takes 2, one for the kids and an adjoining for the parents. However, over the fourth, we have our giant family reunion, so there is no extra room. This is the only way in which I am sorta getting the shaft. But my parents kind of had to...I've always gotten the suite. I'm still complaining to you, though.

They should make double level PNPs for twins. Like portable bunk beds. Wouldn't solve putting them in a separate room, but at least would free up some space in the room you are in.
I would forgo the pnp and take bed rails. We did this with C when we went on a vacation and it worked out great. She was used to sleeping in a bed, so i don't think a pnp would have worked for us anyway.
Could the kids all bunk together? I mean, I'm sure your two go to bed before the older ones do....but if they didn't go into the room until they were actually getting into bed, they could be quiet and it might work?
I was wondering this too. Especially if your girls are old enough to sell it as a big deal, bunking with cousins and they will have to be very quiet until everyone wakes up, etc.
This is us almost every weekend we're at my parents' beach house. This summer is the first time the girls have actually stayed asleep and in their own beds, and of course we're about to screw it all up by adding another baby to the mix. lol. It's so much easier when my siblings aren't down so we can stay in one of their rooms and leave the kids in ours.
eta: I would skip the pack 'n plays if the girls are in beds at home. Kate is 3.5 and still sleeps in a crib at home (though not for long) but she stopped sleeping well in a pnp when she was 2.
eta2: I am also not above sharing a bed with both of my kids, as long as it's a king. They sleep well that way even if H and I don't.

At least you get to go to the beach!
Ok, I am kidding, but I am jealous of beach time. I miss our condo so much. wah wahhhhhhhh lol
They've been in beds for 2 nights, lol. It is not going to go well. Kids do not do well together. Hers are REALLY rambunctious, and mine rev up when they're around. We once tried to do a sleepover and had to call it at 11:30 Hotel isn't an option, it's pretty remote. We'd have to drive 30 mins to get there and back and to put them down for naps every day. Also, can't afford it! It's ok. It's a FWP. I'm just stressing now that we're leaving today.
ditch the pack-n-plays, and put them in regular beds. If you don't want to deal with bedrails, a pool noodle or rolled up towel under the fitted sheet will keep them from rolling out.

how are you feeling? You are getting so close!
I know, that's why I don't really complain about it! I am pretty sure I wouldn't love summer nearly as much as I do if we didn't have the beach.
I am feeling good but this summer is going by even faster than usual which means the baby will be here before I know it!
Someday I will live near a beach again. I just love the water, I love the pace of life and just love it. Our place was in Bethany Beach, DE. We hope to rent something next summer. I think the girls will love it.
are the girls getting excited about the baby coming?
Bed rails? I don't even know what bed rails are. So I guess I can't bring any.
LIttle guardrail deals for the bed so the kids can't roll out.
But, with a big bed, you can get away with rolled towls (like Dot mentioned) and some pillows on the floor. C did awesome and if the girls are used to being in a bed, they might not want to go back to a crib.
This is probably common knowledge to people who already have kids. I had my nephew this weekend and he gets up ungodly early at my house (not 5am but too early for my lazy pregnant ass). Sunday I rolled over told him it was still quiet time, gave him my phone, and he laid next to me on my pregnancy pillow and played angry birds for an hour while I dozed.
I am taking reservations now to watch everyone's kids since I am clearly so responsible. LOL
That trip is going to require massive amounts of alcohol....how about your sister gets the room, but in return she must babysit while you go get shit-faced and lay out by the lake. Problem solved. :drink: *Cheers*

I love everything about it too. If you decide to come up to Jersey, you will have to let me know!
The girls are so, so excited for the baby. My nieces are getting too big for them to hold so I think they're ready for a snuggly newborn again. :)
Oh, that's probably better than my method. "GET BACK IN YOUR BEDS OR I WILL PUT ALL THE ANIMALS YOU OWN IN BAGS AND PUT THEM IN THE GARAAAAAAAAGE!!!!!!"
I just talked to my sister, she put a case of Mike's hard lemonade and 2 bottles of sparkling rose (I don't know how to do an accent dealie) in the fridge in my room for me. Feeling more charitable!

Awww that helps. Yeah that blows but is understandable. Doesn't make it easier though. .
Maybe you find a peaceful couch and lt your Dh have some quality kid time haha. Or one for ea grandparent!!
If they aren't used to beds yet then bring the PNP's DD had been in a bed for 4 months and slept fine in her PNP when we went camping. I know it won't help this trip, but we got her this for our camping trip later this summer, we already used it in a hotel once and she love it!
There are five of us that pack into a little room at my ILs shore house if his parents and SIL are down with her kids - if SIL isn't down, we can spread out into her room at least. But as much as I love the shore, we are avoiding going to down when everyone is there because the ILs bring like 2 or three cats plus their dog and there is only one bathroom that everyone is allowed to use, the other is in the ILs room and is taken over by the cat litter for the cats. Very claustrophobic, so even for the weekend it's tough. So far this year, we haven't been, which kind of sucks because the girls love the beach and so do we, it's just that as our families grew, the accommodations shrunk. Although, alcohol would probably make it much, much better, lol!
