I can't with this stuff anymore. I really can't. And I feel so powerless. I think that's the worst part--that I feel powerless.
This is me exactly. Please someone tell me there will eventually be some sort of backlash here. Even if it's just to make me feel better...tell me this will cause backlash!
My head is ready to explode with this shit happening everywhere. And what can we do?
I don't mean that rhetorically. Really. What can we do? What can I do? My funds are pretty limited so donating to advocacy groups and/or political candidates/orgs...I do what I can, but it's not much. Not enough, clearly. What else can I do?
(J) "Unborn human individual" means an individual organism of the species homo sapiens from fertilization until live birth.
is going to have. Because, take for instance IF treatment. This seems like a very dangerous definition to me.
This whole thing has me all upset and I don't even live in OH! And I never will, now.
This pretty much bans preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD - part of IVF for carriers of dangerous genetic conditions) and probably all the rest of IVF as well.
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!?
I don't even have enough words to express my rage at this whole entire thing.
... limit abortion providers’ ability to get transfer agreements with public hospitals.
Because, you know, I'm wondering how this bill is "pro life" when it's about preventing people from being able to be transferred to a hospital in an emergency.

YES!
Oh my god. For real. How the HELL did this happen?!
But seriously. Like someone else said how did this happen? Is this really the will of the Ohio voters? Was it rammed through or were people just clueless?

It was attached to the budget bill. It didn't get much widespread attention, although my choice advocate friends were doing their best to raise awareness.
I live in a very liberal area and all my friends are also outraged and I'm having a hard time figuring out if it's just us or if the rest of the country is going to help us, since I feel like I'm in a bubble.
I had hard, life threatening pregnancies/births and I literally feel unsafe now.

It just got added on to a budget. We called the governor and sent letters and there were protestors outside the statehouse when he signed. He could have vetoed, but he is proud of it.

Ugh, I have never had anything nice to say about Kasich. Guess that's never gonna change. I'm disgusted that this bullshit legislation is happening in my state.
I am do filled with rage, disgust, and fear right now I don't even know what to say. How the FUCK did this happen? This is legitimately a time when if he was standing in front of me, I would go nuts on that guy. Like, physically. I want to hit him and nut punch those other fuckers.
I am so shocked and disgusted I don't know what to say, but it seems surreal to me that the liberal, progressive town where I grow up is part of this crazy ass state.
Ugh I'm so so annoyed about it. Really, Ohio? REALLY? wtf. And the comments on FB and whatnot are just gross. This can not be 2013. How is this even up for debate?
If you didn't read Steph's second link, I will provide one of my favorite details here-- u/s is now required, a woman is required to pay for it, and the doctor has to deliver a Republican-written speech.
<)
Ugh.
I would imagine a legal challenge can come based on making women pay for unnecessary procedures? Can it be based on discrimination? I'm pretty sure that's been the basis of some arguments against paying more for birth control. asdfjklmominatrix
I wonder what these people think about the Texas situation. Like, do they think they're more amazing because they didn't get protested? Are they proud of subterfuge that allowed them to pull one over on the women of the state? Are they so convinced they're right they're proud they didn't get derailed by "feminazis?"
I'm not all that literate in the land of the law, but doesn't this have a negative impact on IVFs? Like someone mentioned about testing for those with genetic risks.
And what exactly will this mean for studies/research done in the petri dish?
How does anyone thing this is remotely appropriate for this world?! I can understand there being two sides of the story for things like the 20 week cut off in TX, but this?! How is this helping anyone? Think of the poor people that get raped, or have health issues, or whatever.
With all due respect to our Republican friends here. And I do mean that sincerely. Until this shit stops - stop voting Republican.
This is where I'm at. I can't deal with their shit anymore. And I'm from TX so I usually have to deal with a lot of shit from Republicans. Wendy Davis for Governor!
