We were at a friends house setting off fireworks in their field last night. The 'Grand Finale' was a box with several mortars in it. It knocked itself over while going off, and fired the last charge directly at us. Noone was hurt, thank goodness, but I do have a small burn on my face from it.

Scary! I am glad you are ok.
Thank you. Me too, since it could have been so much worse!
Working from home is basically the tits. I'm getting everything done that needs to be done, I have Harry potter going in the background, and I can snack whenever I want.
harrisburg. we're actually staying there a few days....in a hotel with a bar. we're also meeting my parents in PA....so, you know. childcare.
It is quite the booming metropolis, so you will have a blast.
If you want any recommendations on places to eat, let me know!
I want recs! I live south of Harrisburg, but we often drive to Harrisburg or Lancaster to eat. We really liked Appalachian Brewing. We eat any type of food really. What's good in Harrisburg?
I want The Suit, but I don't want to actually go into a WalMart for it. I'm having trouble justifying buying it online because there are three within 10 mi of my house. I don't know if this is flameful, a FWP, or both.
I will justify it for you: the ones in the store are NOT the same as the ones online. I tried several of each, and the online Suit is far superior.

Ooh I love Appalachian Brewing Co! Another good one to check out is Lancaster Brewing Co (it's near the Harrisburg East Mall- I think it's just called the Harrisburg Mall now though). Their food is awesome and I love their strawberry wheat beer for summer!
This is a good BBQ place www.momosbbqandgrill.com/ that's not far from all the bars & stuff downtown in Harrisburg so it's nice to eat there and go around for a couple drinks. Groupon also runs good buys for gift cards there often
I don't know which direction south of Hburg you are but if you don't mind a little further drive (probably another 15/20 min on 81) in Mechanicsburg there are a couple great places; Hellenic Kouzina (Greek place to die for), Black N Bleu (REALLY good food and great prices- the same people own The Firehouse in downtown Harrisburg which is also good). If you go another 15 minutes to Carlisle there's a French bistro called Cafe Bruges that's delicious and an English pub called Market Cross Pub that's awesome.
Thank you. Me too, since it could have been so much worse!
I am so glad you are ok! A few years ago my friend's idiot bf decided to shoot off fireworks in his yard. Him being an idiot, I decided to leave and as I was walking out he accidentally* hit me with one. It hit my chin and went all the way down my neck and came to rest on my chest. It hurt like woah and I will probably have a booby scar forever. I miss my lovely cleavage
*He is a sociopath and it probably wasn't an accident. He screamed at me after for ruining his party and threatened to punch H in the face.
I never gave my grandma my number when I moved to this job in the fall because she used to call me like 7-8 times a day and refuse to just leave a message with what she wanted. I can't tell you how many times we discussed that that was too many personal calls for me to get at work, and she should just leave a message if she had something she needed to discuss and I'd call her back when I was able to. Yesterday it was her birthday so I called (from work) to say happy birthday. She called back twice yesterday afternoon, and has already called this morning and it's only 8:30. I regret my decision
Oh no! Do you have a direct line? Are you her caregiver and that is why she calls so much?
Yes, at least I have a direct line! It would be way worse otherwise. I'm not her caregiver, but I think she is convinced that I just sit around filing my nails and eating chocolates all day at work. To her work is just something you do to kill time until you have a baby. My mom and my aunt and sister are all SAHM and I think she calls them a similar amount. And it's always just something like "Strawberries are on sale. You should pick them up since you are out anyways". But she can't just say that on a message, she will call every 20 minutes until you answer.
Thank you. Me too, since it could have been so much worse!

Holy crap! So sorry that happened to you!
Our friends were running around making sure everyone was ok. They felt so horrible about it and apologized profusely.
Here's a random, a TMI, and possibly a flameful thrown in for good measure. When I was pregnant, one of my nipples got significantly larger than the other one. This was upsetting. Now with the M/C, I have lopsided boobs and no baby to make it worth it. It seems like a shallow thing to be upset over and is obviously overshadowed by other concerns, but still. I have lopsided boobs now. That sucks.
Also, flameful, I made the strawberry cake in pie tin that's been floating around here yesterday and was sad when our hostess didn't serve dessert, so I grabbed a piece for the road because I wanted to try it so badly. I don't regret that at all.
you brought a dessert to a dinner and she didnt serve it? she sucks, but not as much as m/c. i'm sorry about your boobs and dont think its shallow at all. i think its probably a painful reminder that things arent how they should be. (((specialk)))

Um, that's a start. Lol ;-)
Thanks! We are in York, so Mechanicsburg is not too far either. I think I'll work on convincing DH to try that French place. I don't think he's had French before and I haven't been to a good French restaurant in years.
We rent out our old house in the Memphis area. We are in town so we are making an appointment to do a walkthrough. Our tenant was evicted Tuesday, we walked around the outside because the locks were changed. My garden is all gone and is just grass now. There is a dishwasher on the back porch but the management company is assuring us that its not our dishwasher, ours is still in the house. Um..... OK....
There is a big piece of carpet on top of the dishwasher and that is ours, it came from the middle of the living room.
I fucking hate being a landlord. DH wants to put down laminate, I want to patch the floor and do laminate before we sell. We have animals renting it, why do ANYTHING nice to the house when we have this weird shit going on.

You're welcome! Well also in Mechanicsburg is TJ Rockwells which is a good burgers/fries/bar type place. Have you been to Backwoods Bar & Grille in Lewisberry? My best friend is in York and we met there for dinner not long ago, I was surprised at how good the food was & it was cheap- I think our bill for apps, dinner & a couple pitchers of beer was like $25.

I've been there. I think it is actually Belgian, not French. Very good though!

My H just got word that he passed his the test portion of the psych assessment and has been invited to come in for the interview. He also just found out that his background check was successful and his file will be passed on to the final round. He is so close to becoming an RCMP officer (well, at least training to be one) and I'm so happy for him!

Congrats! That is huge.
Thanks! It's been quite the lengthy process (almost 2 years!) but he is so close to the end. Just this interview with the psychologist and his security clearance. Hopefully he'll be sent off to Regina for training in the fall. I'm so excited for him (and me!)
"You. You and your crazy life. You and your geographic anomaly. You and your drunken lesbianic ways and terrible navigational skills." - ProfArt and her holy baby
I had the WORST dream ever. The baby and I were trapped in a burning house and I was trying to break through the glass but it was bulletproof. In the dream I was like "Welp, I guess this is it..." and started to say my goodbyes to the baby. Then I apparently got an idea to go through the ceiling to the second floor and we escaped. Oh my god you guys. Talk about a horrifying dream. I asked my h to take sofia shopping so that I could just relax and cuddle with the baby for a few hours.
update! baby is fantastic! We even heard the heart beat, which was completely crazy. They pushed my due date back to March 1st but I am so relieved everything is good! The tech was really surprised that we were able to hear the HB this early but it was nice and loud and strong. H cried.
I brought lunch to work today since I'm the only one here to answer phones today. I packed a piece of cheeseburger pie and two cinnamon rolls. Someone brought apple pie and someone else brought doughnuts. I'm pretty sure I'll gain 5 pounds today.
I finally measured my boobs the "right" way and measured a 28d. When I told H, he just laughed. He's one of those that thinks that D's have to be huge and my boobs are so far from huge it's not even funny. I'm also having a hard time believing the measurement, but I'm still going to buy a bra in the "new" size anyway just to see if it really does fit better. Maybe I'll finally have some cleavage!
My emotions are running so high today that everything makes me want to cry. I had a customer complain that I didn't ask her a question that it didn't even occur to me to ask. It just put me in a mood and I can't get out of it.
