I finished this shirt for my niece the other day:
Also, I made these for the impending arrival:
I can't remember where I got the template for the bibs, but I used flannel + quilt batting + terry for the truck one (which was too much, you could totally use just flannel and terry) and then cotton + quilt batting + flannel for the K-State one. I actually made 2 of the truck ones, considering selling the other. I have a whole stack of fabrics to use for bibs and burp cloths because the ones they sell in the store are crap and don't absorb much at all.

Just takes practice, angie! I draw my own and go very very slow lol. I also try and match the thread as close as possible to the fabric to try to not draw a lot of attention to my stitching. Easy for solids, not so much for patterns!

mountainlove, I ironed fabric onto Heat & Bond Lite (Lite is important!) and then cut out the shapes I needed. I draw my own appliques on the computer so I can reprint them over and over. Then, I iron them on where I want it and zig zag around the edge. This shirt was particularly "fun" because the coral fabric had green dots, so I had to do a rough cut of the shape I needed to find where I could avoid the green dots. Unfortunately, it was the only coral colored fabric I could find at 2 JoAnn's, 2 Hobby Lobby's and 2 different LQS in 3 cities lol.
