You guys! I finally dragged my ass over to Nordstrom today to get fitted for a bra. I have been wearing 42DD or 44D bras. Apparently I am a 40G or a 38H, depending on brand or style. I am wearing my new 40G wacoal right now and it is amazing. My shirt looks SO much better and my boobs feel better!
Dude, the exact same thing happened to me last August when I got measured at Nordie's! I have been so much more comfortable in my 40Gs! And look better too...
Yeah, i'm going to have to cave and say you were all right. I tried on 1023984 bras at Nordys last week and a 32D really did feel great, for the most part. But bras are like any other clothing, in that one size doesn't always fit the same way from brand to brand. I'm now waiting on my 4 Soma sale bras
We are getting a Nordstrom Rack here in October & a Nordstrom sometime in 2014. I'm hoping the NRack will have bra fitters there so I don't have to wait until 2014! I'm in a 38D now & measuring as a 36G acc'g to the YouTube video instructions. That being said, I tried on some 36DD & 36DDDs at Target just for shiggles the other day & there is NO WAY I'm gonna be a 36 in any cup size.
We're practically boob twins!! I wore my most structured 38G Wacoal the other day and two people asked if I'd lost weight. However, by the end of the day I could not wait to take that thing off. I had red welts all across my body. I really need to buy a few more 40Gs, but they're so damn hard to find and pricey.

I think being aware of how a bra should fit and having a wide variety of sizes available is 90% of the battle, so you will probably be fine of your own.
I ordered a bunch of new ones after watching and measuring from the you tube video posted a few weeks ago. I wasn't too far off, I was wearing a 36DD and remeasured as a 34DDD/F. They fit so much better.
Can somebody that has done this explain the process to me? Does she measure over my clothes? Bra? Bare boobs?! I really want to go but am nervous bc I don't know what to expect. TIA!

The sales woman explained to me that they usually measure & fit with an unpadded bra (specifically a chantelle one). But it's w/ a bra on, and they will ask if you don't mind them fitting the bra for you (they'll be in the room with you, hold the bra for you to put your arms through and then clasp & help adjust in the back - so yeah they will see your boobs if you are comfortable with it). It's really NBD - I know it feels like it's going to be super embarrassing, but they are SO professional.

My experience was I walked into the deparment and stared poking around at sizes, etc. A sales lady came over and aske dme if I knew about the pre-anniversary sale. I guess I was at the rack of stuff that was on sale only if you are a nordies card holder. I said I wasn't, and she asked what size/brands I was looking for. I told her that I was not a regular nordies customer and she asked if I wanted to be sized. I agreed, and we went into the dressing room and she grabbed a measuring tape. With my shirt on, she aked what I normally wore. I told her that I was pretty sure I was a 40 or a 42 butn thoguht I was wearing the wrong size. She took one look at me and said I was probably a 40G but wanted to measure me to be sure.
She measured and said she thought I woudl be either 40G, 40H, or 38H. She gathereed a bunch of bras and then we tried them. She measured me with a shirt on, and then asked if I wanted her to help me try on various sizes. She said I coul try them myself if I wanted, but I was happy to have her helf. Frankly I am fat and have short arms and actually it is hard for me to put on the 40G by myself. That is obviously why I keep trying bras with bigger bands. But the smaller band fits so much beter. so I am soing to need to work on a) calisthentics or b) other ways to put the 40G on me ever morning.
To fit me, the sales lady stood behind me and put them on and then hooked them in the back for me.
LoveTrains, I'm probably in the ballpark of sizes where you are (currently in a 38DD, but no clue if I actually should be). If you don't mind my asking, is the properly fitted bra fitting you nicely in the back (not pudging your back fat?) This is the area in which I think I need new bras the most.
The 38s caused nasty back fat pudge. It was not pretty. It was OK with the 40s.
The thing is, I have problems hooking the 40s in the back.
Finding the right bra was life changing. I had been wearing 36F/FF. Now I'm in a 34K (or 34H in Euro sizes). I look and feel so much better I can barely explain it. It is worth the time and money, even if you have to drive a long way to make it happen. Promise!

Ditto.
ETA: Ok, I finished the thread and get it. Sounds good.
I didn't pay attention to the other threads. Should I go now, or is is this still the time for only VIPs/regular customers/whatever?
And how good will the deal be? Are we talking $20/bra? $40/bra? More?

FYI, I cannot hook Wacoals in the back. Like at all. I wear 40DD, and I have not problem hooking Chantelle, Simone Perele, or Panache. But I have never been able to get a Wacoal on myself. Not entirely sure why.

I usually put a bra on by hooking it in the front and then shifting it to the back to put my arms through the straps. Maybe try that?
This is how I put mine on as well - I have shoulder issues and no way can I reach around back to hook a bra. I then lean forward to make sure the girls are in the way they're supposed to be.
Yay!! I'm so happy about this--I went to Nordstrom Rack the other week and got some properly fitting bras the other week. It's amazing what a difference the right size makes! I feel like I have new boobs!
On a side note; I wonder how much sales have increased at Nordstrom's thanks to GBCN lol
I did the you tube measurement this weekend and I am either a 34 H or a 36 G. I had been wearing a 38 DD. I bought two 36 Gs at Nordie Rack last weekend for 10.00 each. The difference is amazing. If I can find time I might run into a Nordstroms and try on a 34 H and see if it fits better, although I am pretty satisfyed with the fit on the 36 G.
