No arts and crafts here. BOYS! lol. DS1 has never been interested in arts and crafts, despite my trying over the years.. he does practise his writing now, but that's it. Like Dalhi said, pre-school can take care of that mess for me
DS2 likes putting crayon to paper when DS1 practises his writing, but then it's often to mouth as the next step.
ETA: not to stereotype, (where's EB!? lol) but out of all my friends with kids, it's 90% the little girls who come out with these amazing art projects. Mostly the boys just want to run around.

I guess we don't do "arts and crafts" necessarily yet, but Linus loves to color and paint, so we usually do something with crayons, markers, chalk, paint on different surfaces, play doh, etc. DD doesn't get into most of them yet, but will scribble a lot of times. I mean, I keep some of them, but nothing fancy. Like, it's "whoa! Look, we took apart your cereal box today, let's color on it". Yes, this is what I'm doing with my art history degree...
I have tried crayons but she just eats them. We got some crafts that are the no mess, they only write on the special paper, that I have used a bit and they are okay.
We color with crayons all the time, and do chalk outside on the patio. I've been thinking about trying the edible finger paints, was it sprinkles that made finger paint with pudding? Or did I imagine that?
Max draws with crayons in his high chair. I got some chalk because the chalkboard/easel that I got on craigslist (came w/ the used learning tower stool that I bought) - but he wouldn't stop drawing on the floor w/ it so I don't think it's time yet. Maybe I should take it outside...
