Mel, she took it in, it's just baggy under there from what I can tell. The fit is just so off. The store manager will be contacting me first thing tomorrow to set things right. They all think 10 days is more than enough time to get this corrected so I'm cautiously optimistic. My body is challenging to dress, so I kinda get it. The bodice fit wonderfully at the second fitting, but I suspect she took it in a hair more after that and it threw everything off. I'm not proportional.
Ugh, this was stress I didn't need.
ETA: I've never sewn so much as a button. Embarrassing but true.

If the lining is bunching then it wasn't done the same amount as the dress. You could do the button. What do the ribbons tie into? A tiny plastic loop?
I really will do a tutorial for you if you want to even see what it takes/looks like!
Yes, there are little plastic loops with small bows tied around them so I can find them. Let me wait until I talk to the other tailor and see what she can do for me. Thursday feels like an eternity now.
It's so important for me to feel pretty this time because I didn't feel that way the first time. I settled on the dress (and the guy) and now I thought I had found one that made me feel good, but it's been like wrestling a cat in a bathtub.
So after sitting up all night pouring over this in my mind, I think I might just scrap the dress altogether and see if I can't find a sample that can be easily altered. By someone else, obviously.

I really wish I could come fix it for you.
I think the dress could still be fixed based off of your descriptions. If your really love it then find a better tailor and have them fix it. That dress is too gorgeous. Especially if you really love it.

UGH! Bowies, I'm so sorry you are going through this! Shitty alteration work is just stress you don't need! I'm so mad for you... I have waited to post in this thread because I haven't really been able to articulate my frustrations for you. I still don't have the right words, but I'm so incredibly sorry!
That being said, as others have posted, this is fixable and whether you decide to stick it out with this dress, or another, you are going to be an amazingly stunning bride!
Lots of hugs, cookies, and soothing thoughts coming your way!!!
Sorry bowies but I just wanted to share a little story with you that might help calm your nerves. There was a huge blowout between the bridal salon where I got my dress from and the inhouse seamstress. Seamstress decided to hold my dress (and a few others) hostage. This started 1 month before my wedding. Well it turns out Ms Seamstress has done none of the damn work on any of these dresses over the course of the last few months. Fast forward to 10 days before I am suppose to hop on a plane for my DW wedding. I finally have the dress in hand with not one ounce of alterations done. The dress was a size 10 and had to be altered down to a 4 due to me being so sick for several months. So we are not talking easy fixes here. Ended up finding an angel of a woman who did all my alterations in the course of a week and the dress looked awesome.
So the moral of my story is there is still time to make this dress into your dream dress, if that is what you want. Chin up lady, no matter what you decide you will be beautiful on your wedding day.
Thanks for the reassurance spindle! I'm feeling more OK about it today. I don't think the issues are insurmountable anymore so at least showing up at the salon this morning calmed my nerves. Staying up all night fretting didnt help anything, and my logical brain seems to be back in action. I revisited the pic of me in the dress from when I first tried it on pre-alterations and it confirmed I'm not crazy pants at least - that bodice was smooth. It was also baggy, but hey. I don't expect it to be wrinkle free when I wear it since I'm not a mannequin, but the diagonal pucker shooting out of my belly button needs to go. I'm now wondering if one of my hips is higher than the other.
We met with the caterer last week and she was marveling at how relaxed and gregarious we were at this stage. She spoke too soon, LOL. Now I'll just be watching the weather forecast like a hawk.
Omg Bowies. I'm just catching up on all this now. I'm so sorry. What about something from J Crew bridal?
Also, for the record, I could wrap you in brown paper bags and you would look gorgeous, but I totally get wanting everything to be perfect this time around. It will all work out.
I'm leaving the fitting now. I have giant hips yo! I don't think I lost a single inch from them over the past 8 years. BFF is getting fitted as I type. Now she's picking over her bodice too. I'm a bad influence.
The fix is to shorten my left hip a touch and let it back out a touch. Then steam the shit out of it.
