I would much rather get a blood test than an ultrasound, and finding out so much earlier is just icing on the cake! I hope my OB offers this, especially if it is cheaper since our insurance is going to suck some major ass next year. And from what I understand these tests will detect if there is a certain male factor that is shed into the mother's blood. If it is then it is almost 100% positive you have a boy, but if not then you have a girl. It doesn't work for multiples though unless you are having only girls. In that case it will test positive for 1 or more boys and you don't know how many.

I'm glad you had a good appointment! One of my close friends told me about the new blood test today. It's amazing how just two years later the technology has already changed.
I didn't get this test... wah! Things are changing while I'm pregnant! But I am glad that your appointment went well... but this thread makes me a little sad, thinking about the bad things. I hope no one has to deal with any of them!
The other brand is called Panorama. Which test you get depends on which lab your doctor uses and which lab your insurance covers. I know we just started offering this test within the last 6 months, so not all physicians have switched over to it.

I'm glad your appointment went well and yay for US on monday!
I think I'm going to be getting an NT and a Harmony test. My OB said last night that my next US (next Weds) will be to "measure the neck" and then after that a blood test to check genetic things. Maybe I misunderstood? Would they do an NT and the Harmony? I think Harmony is accurate beyond what just a scan can be.
Also, I'm still high risk, so they might just be covering all bases with me and it may not be normal, but apparently it is offered in NYC.

If I remembering correctly the NT was a combination of scan and bloodwork. this new test is JUST bloodwork and is so accurate ultrasound is not required at all. At least that is my understanding of it!

My OB mentioned only a scan at this next appointment, then only blood work after that. Hmm.

Hmmm interesting! Where is your OB practice? I'm calling mine and telling them about you! Lol

I'm wondering if the blood work is just the NT scan blood work?

I'm getting it done through a lab in Bay Ridge called New Beginnings. I am going next week for the scan and will ask what the name of the next blood work is called.
Last time I had the NT scan with Mel they did blood work the same day, but this time around it is slightly different and I will ask more then.
I also switched practices last time around 13/14 weeks so am not sure what is regular procedure at one OB practice vs. high risk vs. newly done regularly, if that makes sense?
