I knew it would be them, but I'm so bummed Fik-Shun and Amy won. I adore Aaron and Jasmine.
I feel Fik-Shun got off easy in a lot in his routines, and really only won because of his personality. Aaron had both the technical and personality aspects down. I'm really bummed for him.
I do think Amy is a phenomenal dancer. As they seem to always do though, the show paired an amazingly talented female dancer with a male dancer far below her ability level. Compare her with Travis Wall to performances with Fik-Shun, and I just think she shines so much better with someone that meets her skill level. Yes, there were routines where Fik-Shun shined just as bright (the bellboy routine, for example) but, IMO, they were few and far apart.
Jasmine, I just love watching her dance. I have no real argument as to how she is better than Amy, I just prefer her. I think Amy coasted for most of it due to her partnership while Jasmine had to fight from the back of the pack and did a damn good job of it. She's fantastic.

I was rooting for Amy and Aaron. Aaron had done so well after almost not even making into the top 20. I really enjoyed his work this season. Fik Shun is very likable so I'm not surprised he's a fan favorite, though I was surprised he beat Aaron.
Amy and Jasmine are both wonderful dancers. I just think Amy is phenomenal, and her personality is what puts her above Jasmine for me. I was so happy Amy won.

I am happy with the results, but I also thought any of the 4 deserved to win.
Fik-Shun's solos were hands down far superior to Aaron's. I also personally feel that Fik-Shun progressed the most during the season than Aaron (who had formal training for years).
I voted for Jasmine on the female side because I just think she is a gorgeous dancer, but Amy was always so great and beautiful as well so it really didn't matter either way who won for me.

See, I completely disagree. They were fun, but I felt Aaron's were better by far. I think he's a better soloist, better partner, and more well-rounded in technique and performance overall. Fik-Shun is great in his style and when he's playing a character similar to his personality (fun, energetic), but I think he has a lot of trouble becoming a new character in other styles, especially in the more emotional pieces. Also, I noticed a lot of the choreographers tried to integrate Fik-Shun's style into their own, even if was ballroom or contemporary. That tells me that he wasn't performing well at all and they had to bring in some of his style to make him look better in the routine.
I think people like to compare him to Twitch a lot, but I'd rather compare him to Joshua Allen from Twitch's season. Fik-Shun and Josh each danced the same style and they each had little to no training before the show, but several of Josh's performances are still ranked among some of the best in SYTYCD history, particularly ones that are far and away outside his comfort zone. Go back and watch some of his performances and then compare that to Fik-Shun's journey.
I don't think Aaron was up to Josh's level either, but I think he was far closer than Fik-Shun.

Fik-Shun's contemporary dance with Allison was one of my favorites of the season, and he showed plenty of emotion and technique in that one (as well as the Mandy Moore jazz routine w/ Melanie). I don't get the whole "he got off easy" schtick, he had just as many challenges outside of his style as Aaron did.
Good thing we all get to make our own votes, eh? Dance, music, and art are never going to be viewed at the same by everyone, but I think that's why this is such a great show since it showcases such a variety of styles, personalities, and cultures for everyone to see.

He actually did have plenty of training. Nigel just likes to lie about people's backgrounds to make a more compelling story. He had studied ballet and jazz IIRC.

That's why I said little to no training. I read an article about him after he popped up as an All Star this season where he said he'd had some training, but not much.
