SwimDeep I hope he finds a good individual therapist and that you're able to find a couples therapist you both like. What you've been living with for years sounds exhausting on all sides. I hope therapy gets your husband truly on your side and that you get more support from him, less direction.
So glad the counseling session went well. As others have said, it sounds like he could use some individual (and couples) counseling. Good for you for not giving in to him on the 'confronting the family' issue. Sorry that this is making you feel depressed.

Totally agree. I'm REALLY glad he's open to seeing a therapist. He needs to. he needs someone else to (hopefully) help him realize that YOU can't change your family. You can change how you relate to them, but YOU can't change THEM. Why he doesn't seem to realize this on his own is beyond me, but perhaps a unattached 3rd party will help him.
