I'm supposed to have started A Streetcar Named Desire for my challenge. However, the volume my library's catalog said it was in was wrong. So I have to stop by the library tomorrow and pick up the RIGHT book. BAH! So in the meantime, I'm reading the NEXT book on my challenge (after Streetcar)... The Group by Mary McCarthy.
I just started Tumbleweed by Heather Huffman. So far, so good. I'm also a little more than halfway through Dance Upon the Air by Nora Roberts on audio. It's pretty good.
I'm working tomorrow, so no big plans. Not sure yet what we're doing Sunday besides church.
I just started re-reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver. I've read it a few times but it has been at least four years since my last re-read. We're getting ready to leave for vacation, so I wanted something I could get into easily. I'm a bad traveler -- fine when I get there, but so stressed out by getting ready.
Book related kid cute: My DD (age 3.5) has been so excited to choose her books to take on vacation with us. She's been talking all week about which ones to take.

I'm still reading Wuthering Heights. I should finish today or tomorrow.
I have "The First Family" (about John and Abigail Adams) at home ready to be cracked open as well as "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett that just became available on my kindle from the library.
I'm really happy I stuck with it. It's really good.
I'm having book overload right now though. I have two books waiting in the wings and I still have 500 pages left of Roots. I don't think I'll have time to finish them all before they have to go back to the library. Gah!
I also have "Buying a Home for Dummies" that DH and I are slowly working our way through since we're looking to buy a home in a year or so.
We have a fun weekend planned. Saturday I'm going out to a nice dinner with DH (can't wait!) and Sunday is my birthday so we're having people over for cake, beer, snacks and a trip to the pool.

I've finally gotten around to starting The Hummingbird's Daughter by Luis Urrea. I'm enjoying it a lot. Sometimes it makes me laugh out loud, sometimes it horrifies me, and it's making me think. Love that in a book.
Not sure what to pick up next, though. Maybe State of Wonder by Ann Patchett.

I just finished Beowulf this morning (ack). I also plan to finish The Kite Runner today. I'm going OOT to visit some friends and while I am there I will be hitting up the much more adequate library to get potential novels to use for my thesis. I'll spend the next couple of weeks going through those and trying to hammer down a decision on what to use.

I didn't make much progress in the last two weeks, last week was so crazy I missed the check in here and the TIP book club, sad reading days. I'm hoping to make some progress in the Great Gatsby this weekend. There is a 70% chance of rain both days so I think it's safe to say I'll be getting some reading done.
I just finished up Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver and am now starting A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb. Looks like I'm falling into a ghost story theme for awhile. Before I Fall by the way was amazing and very well written I thought. As for this weekend I unfortunately work so I probably won't get much reading done. Boo

We're leaving on vacation tomorrow so I've loaded my kindle with a few: The Wild Rose Moloka'i Sky of Red Poppies First Shift (prequel in the Wool series) Divergent The Alchemyst (Nicholas Flamel series)
If I get tired of those I also picked up a parenting book - Raising your Spirited Child
CR: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell WIJFR: The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley TBR: I'm hoping to start at least two of these this weekend. They're due back at the library in two weeks. The Summer Garden by Paullina Simons Mariana by Susanna Kearsley Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Just finished Toni Morrison's Jazz. I'm alternating between reading the first Dexter book and Atlas Shrugged now (I had a long bus trip to NYC yesterday). I'm having trouble getting into either one.
About a Boy by Nick Hornby - it's really hard to read and not think of the movie. It's for my IRL book club. I loved the movie so I'm enjoying it so far.

Still chugging along on Sex, Lies and Valentines, Tawny Weber. I'm closing in on the end though, the "big twist" that arched over all 3 of this series is just about to happen. Too bad my eyes can only stay open for about 15 minutes each night before bed!
This weekend is our 13th annual Dog Party, with raffle for the local animal shelter. Should be big fun. Last year Q-tip wasn't walking, so she was happy in her Bjorn all day. This year is going to be a challenge, with all the dogs and her. yikes.
Still listening to The Color Purple and reading The Phantom Tollbooth. I like both but haven't had time to read (anything but school related stuff) this week.

I love the book and the movie, but some of the changes they made to the movie bugged me.
I'm reading Ready Player One. I started it over the weekend, but I haven't picked it up since Monday. I'm hoping to burn through it this weekend, because I have Monday off.

I finished Wuthering Heights while waiting for DH to finish his seminar. I hadn't packed another book because I intended to come home and pick up Murder on the Eiffel Tower, but since the roads were flooded and we were forced to stay overnight in Melbourne, I had to change plans, so I started one of the books I bought...Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, four chapters in and already I know Murder on the Eiffel Tower will have to wait out another book.

Finished - 11/22/63 by Stephen King - thought it was really good. I'm still kind of missing it, now, like I could go back and read more about those characters in that time period. Had to add JFK to my Netflix list too.
Finished audio - Two for the Dough (Stephanie Plum 2) - Honestly I keep these kind of suck. I find the only thing I'm interesting is when Stephanie and Morelli are finally going to do it. Don't think I'm going to bother moving on in the series though.
Nothing Daunted: The Unexpected Education of Two Society Girls in the West - about two east coast girls who come out to the wilds of Colorado in the late 19th century to teach at a rural mountain school. Lots of interesting history, for me, since I'm born and raised in Colorado. Learning about all the people all our towns and mountains and streets are named after.
audio - The Absolutely True Story of a Part-Time Indian - totally not what I thought it was going to be, but I'm enjoying it. Very unusual but gifted story teller.

Finished audio: Heresy by S. J. Parris. REALLY liked it. Can't wait to start his next book. Started audio: Four Queens: The Provencal Sisters Who Ruled Europe by Nancy Goldstone.
Kindle: Catherine the Great by Robert Massie "Real" book: Halfway to Hollywood: Diaries 1980 to 1988 by Michael Palin (yes, THAT Michael Palin)
Yay Stephen King! And both Salem's Lot and 11/22/63 are amazing. He's the man!!! I think when I go on my Bermuda cruise in August, I'm going to allow myself to put a few challenge books on hold so I can read some Stephen King.
