My friend actually makes and sells these, and my initial reaction when she started was that they seemed a bit silly. I mean, I have fold over elastic for making diaper covers. And it's cheap. But then I made myself a couple and decided that they are WAY better than my other hair ties.
That being said, I still giggle when I see these on anthro's website marketed as some fancy thing. It's FOE people!
So it's literally a piece of FOE with a knot in it? And they're selling it for $12? I want it to make my hair look really good for that price!
That seems to be the case. Yes. I know, it's totally ridiculous. Hence, why I laughed when I saw my friend was selling them for $5 for a pack of 4. But $12 for a pack of 5 is just...wow.
That's Anthro for you! They have some of the most ridiculous sh!t- and some fool will buy it!
I use FOE hairbands to tie up my hair overnight- I have insanely thick, thick, thick hair and it's long (and grows ridiculously fast), so they don't work for me during the day. Just not strong enough. But, they're so soft and don't tug at all, so perfect for me to keep it out of my face at night.
The stuff is less than a buck for 2 yards- how many can you make out of that? At least twelve, would be my guess. Nuts. FOE actually dyes really easily, too- with wool acid dyes (so just vinegar+food coloring in a crockpot/microwave!) so you could just buy a yard or two of white and go nuts dying it.

That sounds like fun, since I do like using these hairbands. And obviously, more colors=more fun. I'll have to try that at some point.
There was a group of 6th grade boys in my grade that wore those things like it was their job. They had a variety of colors it was impressive. I wonder if they got them from anthro
