I get off more on bragging about how much I "save" than how much I spend.
There was a high end department store closing in my area about 15 years ago. I popped in on the last day they were open at about 3pm, when everything was marked 90% off. Some lady was returning a pair of knee high boots with a mile high heel. I grabbed those suckers out of her hand and paid for them without even trying them on. I didn't care, if they didn't fit, I would have sold them on EBay and probably made a nice profit. They were a big designer at the time, although I no longer remember who. They were originally priced at $900 and I got them for $90. Would have been worth every penny of the original price as they turned out to be instrumental in my landing a husband. I wore those sons'a bitches until the heels were nubs.

What's your best deal ever?
You are pretty much amazing. I have never done anything so impressive. That is freaking fabulous

My grandmother worked at Penneys for years and knows how to work their system, so she always gets the best deals. One time she came home with four pairs of boots (really nice ones) that were about $100 each. She got them all for 97 cents. CENTS.

I saw a winter coat that I really like for $300. It was 40% off, so that knocked it down to $180. I had a $150 GC that I had won at a raffle, so now I'm down to $30 out of pocket and I had a coupon for $15 off any purchase of $25 or more, so now I'm down to $15.00 out of pocket. Took my coat home, 1 day later the pocket on the front popped a seam so I took it back to exchange. They didn't have my size, or my color. I spoke w/the manager and she, not realzing what I actally paid for it, offered to cover a repair fee.
I took it to a tailor, he charged me $20 and the store mgr reimbursed me, so I actually made $5 bucks off the whole deal.
I felt like we got a really good deal on our house at the time we bought it (25k below their asking price) buuuuut what we paid is about what it would sell for right now, 6 yrs later. :/
I think I got our comforter for $300 when the original price was $600? The numbers are fuzzy but it was a steal.
I scored a $1500 Burberry dress coat for like $300 at Saks a few years ago.
This summer, I bought a brand new, tags on Nanette Lepore jacket at a consignment store in New York for $80, regularly $450.
My wedding gown was a brand new, never tried on sample Reem Acra. I got it for about $2500 which was less than half the retail price. Oh, and I found my wedding shoes, which were Manolo Blahniks for about $100.
Pottery Barn Speedboat trundle bed, dresser and nightstand, in perfect condition, on Craigslist for $300 cash. The set is almost $2,900 new with tax and shipping. I bought it from a Realtor who used it for staging.
Right before my wedding I was at Tuesday Morning and found the crystal pattern I had registered for marked down to $9.99 a glass. Originally priced at $48 each. I bought 12 place settings, $480 before tax. Ended up getting about half the glasses off the registry anyway so I returned them all and had $1000+ credit to macys so we bought tons if kitchen stuff. I was so proud of myself lol.
There is a goodwill about 20 minutes from me, and I have found INCREDIBLE deals there. One time I went, and bought 3 Trina Turk shirts, that still had the tags on. I also found a Kate Spade cardigan there, that also still had the tags on. Another time I bought a pair of black skinny Rag and Bone pants, a pink Tahari trench coat with the tags on, and a 200 dollar pair of Ann Taylor heels. And they ALWAYS seem to have Coh, 74amk, AG, and Joes jeans...plus they always have a bunch of Theory stuff. It's kind of a dangerous place!!
The best deal though was probably last week, I saw a MCM dresser that I LOVED, marked for 25 dollars. It's a little banged up, but I'm sure that I can refinish it and make it look perfect. When I was checking out how well the drawers worked, I saw that it was a Heywood Wakefield, and nearly peed my pants. It's sitting in my sunroom right now, I am SO AMAZED it was only 25 bucks!!!!

During one of Yankee Candles last sales,, all the tarts/votives ($1.99) and regular car jars ($2.99) were just $1. I got 15 car jars and 30 tarts, then used a $20 off a $45 purchase coupon. I was also able to use my 10% military dependent discount on top of all that. In the end I spent like $23 and saved almost $90!

I am always looking for a deal.
Our house was an amazing deal. We looked at it twice 3 years ago when it was listed for $1,195 m. A couple of years later we bought it as a short sale for $560,000. That was a pretty good deal. Of course it's a money pit and we've put in a couple of hundred thousand since buying it so there's that.
We redid the bathroom and I found a $5000 Victoria and Albert soaking tub on floor model clearance for $980. Snapped that up and it looks beautiful in our master bath. Also negotiated our tile from an original quote of $12,500 to $7,000 which was pretty good too.
Still exciting I found a Mini Boden dress on sale in a charity shop in London for 90 pence. If you don't factor in the flight that's a seriously good deal. ; )
I also have a bunch of Cole Haan shoes I paid $19 which started around $197. I got them off the clearance rack at Cole Haan outlet. Sold a bunch on eBay and kept several pairs for myself.
I love a deal. Paying full price feels like failure. Lol.
Our bed frame and headboard were $350 original price. But it was the last one and was the floor model, so they sold it half price @ $175. We had a $100 gift card, so we got it for $75
Also, our stainless steel fridge, originally $900, had a small dent in the side (the side that is up against the wall) and Lowe's marked it down to $400
An agent emailed us 2 day ago and told us that their client lost out on a bidding war for another unit in our building. She asked us if we would be interested in selling our unit. Her clients offered us 106k over what we paid for it 3 years ago. We don't have it listed and we aren't selling, but that was cool.
I've gotten a ton of great deals on clothes from shops in NYC and the Goodwill in my area. I bought a pair of Helmut Lang black skinny pants for $4.99 there a couple months ago and a Marc Jacobs cashmere sweater for $5.
Our dining room table retails for $3600 new. I bought it for $120 on craigslist because the couple were moving and it didnt fit in their new dining room. They had to be out of their place that afternoon and didn't have any takers.

I had driven from home (upstate NY) to Steubenville, OH to visit my best friend. On my way home, I stopped in Target in Buffalo (across from the Galleria). It was just to get my kids some popcorn and we still had 2 hours left to drive. I was perusing the kids department and they had a stack of boxed City Micro strollers on clearance for $98 (that is 50% off). I noticed an internet return sticker on one and looked more closely. $48. So I got a City Micro stroller for $48. New in box. I went home and sold my City Mini for $100 and I swear, it is the exact same stroller. Everything is the same except just a little smaller, still perfect for my kids.
My other best deal came from Target as well, I got a 2-pack of Fuzzibunz size small diapers for $7. At that time those fitteds were going for $20 for one diaper. Yet another internet return, they really mark those down just to get them out of the store.
we bought our house in a down market, so we paid about what the sellers had paid and they'd put in about $75k worth of improvements (including a pool).
the best deal i ever scored, however, was my private student loan interest rate (i consolidated right before graduation). it was so low i've heard it described by more than one person as "sick." lol. i saved thousands upon thousands as a result.
the best consumer deal in terms of raw $$$ was probably my wedding dress. i bought off the rack and paid $750 and the original price was $5,000.

My car had a KBB price of $10k, and I got it (with taxes and title included) for $7k. I think it's because it has a manual transmission. I love it and haven't had any problems with it.
Our house: the previous owners were very much in a hurry and ended up lowering the (perfectly justified) price by 75.000€. We ran back to it (we had viewed it at the original price and were seriously considering it) to buy it the day they changed the ad. Of course we've spent that and more in it since then, but it's still well under its actual value.
Our living room set (couch & two seats) was labelled at 11.000€. We couldn't see the price anywhere (would have ran away!) so we had to wait for a sales person to give us info. When we asked the price for the set they said they could sell the exhibit one for 70% off. It had been in the shop 2 weeks. Yes please.
Of a lesser amount: our first holiday together was a week in Crete, b&b and flights included for 150€ each.
Most of my mine have been trash picks, so not sure if that counts. Perfect condition antique maple library table, which I found another one years later at an antique store for $2500. It has carved ladies faces on each corner and talon ball feet. It is beautiful. And it was free.

Yes, this is more my post;). My mom has instilled bargain hunting in me and my sisters.
My best deal was this summer, we went to Europe for 10 nights, first class air flights, for about $600 ( excluding one very expensive splurge dinner which upped the amount). Rewards points and status from my business -traveling DH.
Otherwise, I got a sweater at Kohl's for $0.25 once, no coupons, just that cheap on clearance. I have other random saving's but that sticks out

I was accepted to be on Keurig's customer experience panel and they sent me a free Kuerig and I got to order coffee for free for a year. I also got to invite a friend so I hooked my mom up with the same deal. It was pretty awesome. They ended up wanting to do diagnostics on hers and sent her another brand new one (newer model) free again!
Ooh, thought of a few more (I love a good barain).
Back in college I got a vacation deal through Virgin Atlantic for RT flight to Paris and five nights hotel for $500. I would die of happiness if I could even find flights for that cheap anymore.
Also, the condo we are buying (tomorrow!) we got for about $200 sq/ft less than the average for the neighborhood because of fortuitous timing and some kick-ass negotiating.

janegold We aren't selling, this place is just going to go up and up. We are keeping it as an investment property
When are you closing? Soon right? You got an awesome deal!!! Have you seen the plans for Inkblock? I want to buy a place there just for the pool and being able to go to Whole Foods without walking outside
Stephi's is opening tonight. I'd say lets meet there for a drink, but we have a Preschool open house to go to
Our greatest deals are either big picture (house, mortgage rate, tuition, student loan rates) or vacations:
We spent 2 weeks in Europe on a shoestring budget the summer they instituted the euro (flew in and out of Amsterdam, drove down to the Loire valley via brussels, and back up to a wedding in Germany). Great food, great wine, great fun.
I shopped high end designers in Buenos Aires the week Argentina devalued their peso (it had been pegged to the dollar. When they let it float it plummeted. the banks were frozen so no one could get $ out. Designers needed to clear their store inventory and slashed prices.)
I traveled to Bali two weeks after Suharto was deposed. The island was empty (because of international travel advisories) so top hotels were dirt cheap as was shopping.
We got a pretty good deal vacationing in Oaxaca the year after a socialist uprising had broken out (the uprising had started with the annual teacher's strike. We travelled there during the teacher strike of the following year).
