I need to redo his hat to make it a bit larger and I'm also working on a foamboard sword for him. I considered making a treasure chest candy holder but I don't know if I want to go that far because, well, I'm lazy. I'm also going to add stick-on patches to the knees of his jeans and maybe at a patch or two to the vest.
I'm cheap, so most of the stuff to make this costume was from Goodwill (striped shirt, vest, boots), half off at Hobby Lobby, or we already had it.
I feel like I should drop this here: when H was a kid, he had learned about the 3 Rs at school and was very concerned about his family's recycling habits. So he was "recycle man" for Halloween. His mom still has pictures of him with empty recyclables hotglued all over his outfit. He carried a cardboard box with the recycle logo on it.
(also this is a fun thing in my house, as I make him take out the trash and recycling)
Luke skywalker and an ewok (made from a teddy bear costume). I figure this is the last year dd won't want wings and glitter.
Ok. Wasn't there an ewok with a "bandana" tied around its head in a battle scene? The only images I can find are the ewok with the head covering drapey thing.
Thread hijack but this is my first halloween in a family community. Will kids come to my house to trick or treat? Should I buy candy? What candy should I buy? I am so excited!!
My tip: get stuff you DON'T like. Less chance you'll find yourself gorging on candy all night and the next morning. And the next night. So I'll stock up on Dots, Mike & Ikes, and Twizzlers (shudder).
This is my first halloween in a while that I am not in a family neighborhood. There is one couple with a baby in my building, and that's it. Zero other children. And the building is secure so unless someone buzzes in some random kids from a block over or something, I doubt I'll get any trick or treaters.
I'll buy some candy anyway just in case. And maybe some of those mini snack-sized bags of pistachios. Kids love pistachios, right?
We get a lot of trick or treaters. You can come over and help hand out candy if you like!

I think I may have talked them into going as Princess Twilight Sparkle and Spike, from My Little Ponies. They play those characters all.the.time, and I regularly hear N giving orders to E/Spike. It is hilarious.
My friend makes capes and has a unicorn and dragon cape I'd totally buy from her.
Otherwise I am going to hope E likes the bee costume I just unpacked from a bin, and I'll maybe suggest N wear her Cinderella dress we got at Disney this year.
My 5-year-old is going to be Batgirl. The baby is going to be Robin.
The baby will also be a bumblebee -- her big sis' old costume -- probably during our weekly mom group. Before I found the Robin sleeper, I had also bought her a flower costume from Old Navy. She may have more wardrobe changes than an Oscar host.

My dad used to work for a major cookie company when I was a teen. We handed out single serve cookie packages for several years. We were the most popular house around.

Minnie Mouse... her uncle bought her the outfit which she immediately had to put on ... and had an EPIC tantrum over today when I wouldn't let her wear it AGAIN...
