I don't watch Dexter, so maybe someone else can confirm or deny this: When Walt was in the car with Skinny Pete and Badger, they made some comment about Jesse being up in Alaska as a lumberjack, right? And isn't that what happened to Dexter? Coincidence? A random inside joke?
I don't know about the connection to dexter, but when Jesse was going to leave town with a new identity, wasn't he supposed to go to Alaska? I could be making that up. I just assumed he told his friends even though he wasn't supposed to.
I woke up still thinking about this this morning. The only thing I wish they had done differently is had Walt and Skylar hug or kiss goodbye or something. Even a hand touch. Just something. Because even though I loved that Walt admitted that he did it all for himself, he started doing it for his family and you could just feel the heartbreak between the two of them. Ugh.
I don't feel sad or disappointed not knowing how the other story lines ended up (Flint, Jesse, Skylar, Brock, etc.) I think they gave us enough to go on that everyone else will be okay.
I kind of want to cry thinking about it. That might be the lack of sleep and flight delay talking.
I wanted this, too. But the more I've thought about it, the more I'm glad they didn't do that. Walt has ruined Skyler's life. He isn't the same man anymore. And as much as I wanted them to hug, kiss, etc. I just don't think it would have been true to her character.
I'm just going to put this in here, too: when I grow up, I want to look like Anna Gunn. She is sooooo pretty.
Yes, no fuckin' way they would hug/kiss it out. She had no love left for Walt. She gave a brilliant speech at the end of season 4 where she said she was just waiting for him to die. He gave her what she wanted.
I have a really good friend who is the spitting image of Anna Gunn!

They didn't need to hug or kiss. She let him see Holly, whom he'd last seen as he was kidnapping, which was a big sign of forgiveness to me. It was a sweet scene.

i disagree. when he was looking at holly and slowly walking out of the room i could feel it. she still loved him. just a brief hand touch would have been so satisfying.

I think she had love for what they had, but not for Walt.
Read on TVGuide.com - It's interesting that Walt died in the same outfit - green shirt and khakis, as when he first appeared in the first episode.
That is interesting! I love all the attention to detail.
What I noticed about his outfit in that scene was that he faded into the background. The khaki/green colors were also the colors of that meth lab and the floor, and it's almost like he became one with it and blended into it as the shot panned out. I thought that was neat.

My h didn't think it was anything, but at the end when they are pulling away from the scene of Walt on the floor in the lab, it looks like an outline of the RV if you were looking down into the RV. I noticed it right away, but it may just be me.
The guy who played Todd annoyed the heck out of me on Friday Night Lights. I was so bummed to see him in BB.

Landry was one of my favorite characters on Friday Night Lights!
I should not be allowed to watch any scenes with Holly. My daughter is near the same age and they rip my heart out. I liked the finale. A friend of mine said "you'll never guess what happens!" but honestly, I could have guessed. It's exactly what would have happened if I'd written it and wanted to tie it up into a neat ending. I think that's what some people feel like is missing. There was nothing that was totally unexpected, that made me flip out at the screen that it's unfair or crazy like some episodes in the past have. It's was all very....tidy. Which is nice and satisfying, but not really the precedent the show has set. That said, I have no idea how else it would be written.
I think they always set it up this way, that Walt had to die at the end and that would be that. I'm not sure I would call it tidy, since Walt went down in a blaze of glory with the Aryan Nation, and Jesse strangling a guy, and Skylar living in a shoebox and Walt Jr denouncing his father and Walt ended up not have a damn thing to show for it.
