The Stewmaker was really creepy. And I don't get why he is able to travel independently. But H and I are really enjoying it so far. I think that they have a lot of story lines to explore, so I am excited to see where it goes.
It was such a creepy/good episode, I loved it! I am not sure this is true, but I googled and found an article that said when he was on camera during the pilot, the ratings soared. When it was just Liz, people lost interest so between the pilot and episode 2, they let him wander around without making any explanation for it. He has full immunity, so I guess it really doesn't matter what he does.

This comports with all the reviews I am reading about the show. Basically they all say that this show is just meh except when James Spader is on screen, at which point it gets really interesting.
I do think the show needs some better writing. The Stewmaker was a real ripoff of the movie Manhunter (the guy playing the Stewmaker was actually the villain in Manhunter. Manhunter is one of my all-time fave movies so I know a little too much about it). Plus, what cleaner keeps mementos of the people he disposes of? It defeats the purpose of cleaning!
Anyway, to my mind, JS will always be Steff in Pretty in Pink, so I'm really enjoying seeing him do something so different.

Or in a role that's actually GOOD. I only watched a couple of them, but when he was on THe Office, I just didn't feel his character at all. In this- I feel it and him. I like him.

But man.... Steff. Yup.
The Office was such a waste for him. He was downright creepy in that and I didn't like him at all. He does better with a serious role because he really is perfect for utterly vaguely threatening lines in a way that makes you know he means business.

Talk about a cliff hanger last night. Boom! I know you know that I know...
I hope we get some more insight into the hubby thing next week.
It still feels so cliche, but Red's her father isn't he? Or at least an uncle. My other theory is her father did Red a major solid in prison or something and he's paying his debt.

No, I don't think he's her father. But clearly there is some connection. I think her DH is "with" her because of her dad too.
Such a great episode and ending! I wanted them to keep going so bad!
It will be interesting to see what the hubby has to say about the gun/money/etc.
I don't know what the connection is between red and Liz. I'm going to say he and her dad were good friends in the criminal world or Red promised to look after her when he passed away.
Who do you think is watching her/her husband on the cameras? Red? The FBI? Someone else?
OMG, it was such a good episode and I can't believe I have to wait another week to see what happens next with Liz and her husband! It was such a mistake watching it as late as I did last night because it amped me lol
Oh, and reds "servant" made a comment about how the NSA guy could have gotten his adversary and red said he's playing the long game. I think the adversary is her dad.
Oh, and I FULLY expect the next episode to open w/ Tom asking Liz "What's this box?". I do NOT expect it to go "how did you find this?". He's going to turn it around on her.
THAT'S IF it's actually his. Who knows where this is all going - but Tom could be in the dark too... you never know.

I don't think Red is her father - seems too obvious. I also think her husband will twist the box contents somehow. The writers have to extend that drama for a little while longer.

I completely agree, from the previews it looks like the husband tries to leverage her next week.

Oh, nice! We don't watch live TV anymore, so I don't see the previews

I thought James Spader was brilliant on Boston Legal. Not only was the character perfect for him, his friendship with Denny Crane (William Shatner) included some of the best lines and smartest scenes on network TV, imo. I wanted to give the Blacklist a try simply because I loved Spader so much back then.
"Any X-Files fans? The Stewmaker is the bad guy in "Paper Hearts," one of my all-time favorite X-File episodes." Dr. G--yes, I thought the Stewmaker looked familiar, and yes, I am/was a big X-Files fan, so now I understand the connection!
