I never said TSA was going to rape me. Never. I did say that it can be sexual assault, and that I hated saying that because it is not something to joke about. And I wasn't joking. I had my labia and breasts touched over my clothes as well has fingers inside my pants by someone in authority over me and I basically had no choice but to do it. I had to fly out to see my Grandma, who is dying and won't be around much longer. I was also with my mom who has mobility problems, which made it more difficult shuffling around from flight to flight. And, I coudln't have refused to fly and left my mom there with no companion to accompany her.
I also don't hate TSA employees. I do, however, hate the TSA and what it stands for, and how so many people just accept it and think it makes flying safer. We're just giving up on our rights for some false sense of security.
I didn't go through TSA all riled up and ready to fight. That is stupid and would ensure that I'd get an enhanced pat down, probably told to remove my clothes, and surely would make me miss my flight. (Well, which didn't matter anyway since it was delayed for so long.) I was as nice as can be. What's odd is that while they patted me down, they didn't notice that I had forgotten to remove my bag of 3 ounce liquids and place it in the bin.
When I posted here about compensation, I explained what happened and said "We were given an $100 travel voucher each, and that's it. That only breaks down to $20 per hour and our time was worth way more than that! Is that normal? Do people usually get more? Is it normal to reserve hotel and car through the airline but have them tell you that they can't help with problems due to their delays? What would you do? "
It''s not like I came in here screaming and yelling about how airlines suck and how I'd sue them or make their lives a living hell until they give me a full refund. I rarely fly and I don't know how airlines work, so I asked. (Which is also why I asked about TSA and airline policies behforehand, so I'd know what to expect.) Other people on here said to complain, be the squeaky wheel, fight the airline, look for a passenger's bill of rights, to try twitter/social media, and so on. I didn't know what was typical, and so I asked.
I don't think it means I shouldn't travel at all because I don't like being groped for no real reason, don't like hours of delays and flight changes, and don't like missing a dinner with my Grandma who fades quicky and was in bed by the time we arrived.
