This is insane. My mom is trying to move in yesterday/today/tomorrow and she's been trying to drive back and forth between New Tampa and New Port Richey. And I might go stir crazy if I have to spend another 2 days in the house!
Our power was out from about 930 last night till 5 this morning. So we didn't sleep well because we were worried about that, plus we had just gone food shopping yesterday and I didn't want all our stuff to spoil! To top it off, there was some crazy frog or something behind our house that was making absolutely UNREAL noises. It sounded like a long, shrill whistle every few seconds. It did this from about 3 AM to 6 AM. We moved to our guest room where we couldn't hear it as much. This morning I left my house an hour late because I decided to sleep in a little and take my time. The ride to Lakeland was alright but rainy the whole way and windy at some points.
I'm not in town, and wondering if we're going to have any surprises when we get back. Guess I'll ask my mom to stop by when everything stops to check on things.
Ok here so far. At least it stopped raining for a little bit. I hate that H had to drive all the way to Land O Lakes for work though. The bridge to Davis Islands is still open and I hope it stays that way until after 7:30 tomorrow morning. Otherwise I will be stuck at work.

It really hasn't been too crazy for us. From everyone's fb posts, sounds like it is worse in the Tampa areas than Sarasota. H's golf course is closed today, so he doesn't need to go in and we kept Beckett home from school today, making it a bonus family day for us.

I give up. I can't get these links to work.
We have a dry rentention area that has never held more than a foot of water. It is about 6'-7' deep and was about a foot short from filling to the top last night. Thankfully the rain stopped! I was freaking out last night, to say the least.
I am glad to hear that no one has suffered any damage. It looks like this is going to continue until Friday.
We had to fly into TPA yesterday. I hate flying and it was really bumpy but not as bad as I expected. I just leaned over and cried in DH's shoulder lol!

Ahhh that sucks! I was feeling bad for anyone who had to fly yesterday... or anyone who tried to have a wedding or a special event

Heather, I'm 90% sure I remember you saying you're in my neighborhood, and everything is OK around here. Some minor, spotty street flooding and some sidewalks are underwater, but definitely doing better than other parts of the city. Some branches down, but no trees that I've seen.

We are Good to know. The HOA management company just sent an email out that they've dispatched the landscaping company to assess the damage, but that it was minimal. The biggest "issue" is that since it's an active construction zone we end up with a ton of mud in the streets when there are heavy rains.
I'm scarrrrred. Driving home at 8 was nuts, I live near the outer bay and we are starting to get storm surge.y sister just left TGH and thinks the first floor will be under water by morning:(. There are signs near our house that show how high the potential storm surge could be and its never seen fathomable to me until I saw the water flowing through the intersection near me tonight at 8.

The first floor wasn't underwater by morning. Yay! Driving off the island was kinda nuts though with the waves and water splashing up onto the road. Yikes!
Yeah Jen, she said she got to work with relative ease this morning. But when she left last night at 7 she said the bridge was pretty scary and there was anger in the water. Glad it's over for us and I feel awful for those up north who are still looking at a couple more days.

Yeah, the water was crazy last night for people leaving on that bridge. It definitely seemed angry! It as better this morning but still kinda scary!

My mom finished moving in today and said New Port Richey was horrible. She was barely able to get out today because the flooding was so bad! It makes me so much more appreciative of living in New Tampa!
