Crib - Walmart, but it's sold in a number of places so we went with cheapest price Glider - Amazon because it was $30 cheaper than Target Dresser - previously owned, just repainted Shelving - Target

Dresser - my old dresser from childhood, repainted Crib - Franklin & Ben from a baby store ($500, so a splurge) Glider - $700 from a furniture store Rug - $200? From overstock Curtains - making them from linen, ~$125
My advice - don't buy anything too "baby" - buy something that could grow with the child or the room.
We got a Baby Cache crib and six drawer dresser from Babies R Us. Using coupons and discounts we were able to get it for 35% off so I felt better about what we spent on it. It seems to be pretty good quality and was delivered to the store very quickly.

Here's what DH and I did:
Crib - Davinci crib from Wayfair.com, $200 (with 10% coupon) Changing table/dresser - $40 off of Craigslist, plus paint Glider/stool - $75 off of Craigslist Side table next to glider - repurposed from living room, plus paint
We were considering one of the cribs from Ikea, but got concerned because we couldn't find it anywhere in stock, so we went with a more expensive one that we will convert up to a toddler bed, and keep it for any future children, so the $200 investment won't be so bad for us.
We picked IKEA b/c it's cheap but still got good reviews in Baby Bargains. And I wanted that particular dresser because the handles don't poke out. Also because it looks nice in general without being too "baby".
We'll use the top of the dresser for a changing table so didn't need one of those.
My mom is letting us use the rocking chair she used to rock me in. It's wood w/ a cushioned bottom - we'll see how comfortable it is.

We haven't bought anything yet but know where we will: Crib- walmart baby mod Dresser- ikea malm 6 drawer chest (will change on top of this) Bookcase- target Nightstand- overstock Rocking chair- from grandma's house
I ditto preferring ikea furniture style. We actually have the same malm dresser in our room now in black/brown and it has held up really well.
We got the PBK Catalina crib. We love it! I registered for another crib at Babies R Us but they sold out and didn't know when it would be back in stock. Just an FYI if the store doesn't have the crib in stock it takes 4-6+ to order it. Luckily PBK had ours in stock. the dresser and side table etc will be Ikea. Our glider is from Babies R Us.

I wanted IKEAs Gulliver crib. Then I saw the Baby Mod Modena crib and got that instead. It was similar in price and style but I just liked something about it. IKEA Malm for the dresser. People have made comments to me about the 'cheap' furniture too, but I like what I like. So tough!

DD1's is from a local baby boutique. $1200ish for the convertible crib, conversion kit (to full bed), and 5 drawer chest dresser. www.babysdream.com/ViewItem.aspx?pid=44
ETA: While I love both sets, Baby Bargains was dead on that the wood for Baby's Dream furniture is very soft. DD's crib and dresser have a bunch of nicks (luckily they aren't super obvious because the paint stain/paint isn't gone). We have not used DD2's stuff yet since she's due next week, but so far we are happy with it. Our local furniture store will basically fix anything wrong with it for free for years to come so that's another perk for us!

Oh and both our gliders are Best Gliders from our local furniture store. They sell the same one at Buy Buy Baby just with a different name (still Best though). They were $550ish each.

Everything is Ikea for both our girls. We have been very happy with it.
We have the Gullivar crib (now in toddler bed mode), the hemnes changing table with removable top, the hemnes daybed with drawers that converts to a queen bed, and both the 6 and 8 drawer hemnes dressers. They are all still in excellent condition after many years of use.

Crib: DaVinci Jenny Lind crib in cherry from Wayfair www.wayfair.com/DaVinci-Jenny-Lind-3-in-1-Convertible-Crib-M7391W-DV1778.html. I think it was $155 when we ordered it. Dresser/Changing Table: We are using an antique dresser we've had for a while. I bought it off Craigslist for like $175 I think Glider/Rocker: TBD
we only bought a crib, but found it at Best Buy of all odd places. it's available from a number of stores, but i wanted something available in canada that could be shipped to my front door without requiring a board crossing/duty charges. i REALLY wanted an ikea crib because i love the simple modern lines, but i'm really pleased with this crib and don't consider it a compromise. it's solid wood expect the wider end panels.
we have it in cherry. and we only paid $145 on bestbuy.ca.

I had a Delta crib from Amazon. DD used it up until she was 4 and it's still in great shape. The dresser was a random mark down from Kroger Marketplace. If I was buying a pricier dresser, I would think about how you want the room to look after they are moved into a big kid bed. It happens before you know it and you might not want to buy another dresser.
The changing table I bought second hand. They are used for such a short time and many people don't even use it at all. They are really easy to find in great shape for cheap second hand. If you aren't wanting to buy it second hand, I would go for a cheaper one.
I can't remember the brand, but I hated my glider. I seriously want one of those big Laz-E-Boy rockers. I loved visiting my dad. It was a lot easier to nurse and much more comfortable.
We got the Graco Lauren crib with the attached changing table from Walmart. My ILs offered to buy it and my MIL kept pushing for something more expensive but I told her I wanted what I wanted.

This time we'll be getting IKEA furniture.
Get what YOU want.
Do you like the Graco Lauren crib? That is the one we are leaning towards.

Crib: JCP -- think it was around $500-600?
Dressers: Got one for each nursery off of Craiglist. The one in DD's room was $80, and I refinished it (pained it turquoise). The one in this baby's room was $100 and was brand new from Overstock -- I just replaced the knobs for an additional cost of $40.
Chairs: We used a big comfy white chair we already had in DD's room (it's now in our playroom). We now have a rocking chair that is a family heirloom on H's side in this baby's room. I didn't sit in DD's room much nursing, so I don't think a glider is a worthwhile investment for us.
Bookcases: We have bookscases in both rooms. The one in DD's room came from Overstock -- not sure of the price b/c my mom bought it. I got a bookcase for free from a friend and painted it/wallpapered the back of the shelves for this baby's room. I think it was like $30 in supplies.
Obviously, we are not into matchy-matchy furniture, and I like some eclectic items in the rooms.
We bought our entire set from a local Georgia crib maker named Baby's Dream. We paid $1,599 total for crib, dresser, chest, and hutch. We had never heard of it until we read a good review in Baby Bargains.
Crib is from IKEA, $120. Dresser is from IKEA, $299. Tall/skinny second dresser is from IKEA, $120. Shelves will be from IKEA, $19.99/piece (plus however much the brackets are). The reclining/rocking chair we're getting will be $399 from BRU, plus a nursing stool, which I think is $19.99.
We went with IKEA because of their crib safety ratings, and because we love the Hemnes grey-brown collection and didn't want to try matching it to something else. My family always had their furniture growing up and it served us well as far as durability, so H and I feel pretty good about how long baby girl's stuff may last.
