Yesterday was rough. D decided to stay awake practically the whole time from 9am to 9pm, with the occasional 10 minute cat nap here & there. I was going crazy.
Once he finally fell asleep, he didn't wake up until 5 am this morning. Thank god I got some sleep.
I called the pedi this morning, thinking something must be wrong. Basically, they said 'so, what'. He's sleeping today, so I guess it was just a fluke.
I'm really looking forward to a predictable schedule. When does that happen???

I am glad you both were able to get a little rest last night.
I remember Lila having days like that. They say it could be growth, teething, basically a million things but unless they have a fever there is no way to figure out what it is. I can't remember when Lila got on a schedule but I know that I finally started to get the hang of things around 2 1/2-3 months. I could distinguish cries and knew she was tired 2 hrs after she woke up, etc.
Enjoy every minute of it, they are only little for a short time

I'm still waiting for Maisy to develop a sleeping schedule! She is a great night time sleeper, but man she doesn't like to nap and never has. (I mean she did nap a lot when she was a newborn, but it didn't last long.) She never really embraced the morning and afternoon nap thing, especially when Beckett is around. And she can go all day refusing to nap and then take a late afternoon nap for only 20 minutes. I've just gotten used to not having that free time to get stuff done that I had with B.
I'll tell you when they become more predictable if it ever happens but it's not looking good over here. I feel like 12 hours of every day are spent trying to get her to nap and 12 hours every night while she's sleeping I'm catching up on everything else. That's not to say I don't love every minute, I do, totally, but I think even easy babies are hard sometimes. I think we got the hang of it at about 3 months, then when she started rolling it got hard again. Now we smooth sailing again at 6 months but I see crawling soon and know we are in for some more wakeful nights when that happens. I know when you're in the middle of it it seems like there will never be an end, but even now already I would go back in a heartbeat if she could be that small again. Seriously, enjoy even the hard times if you can. Like Chelsea said, you'll learn his little language and eventually be able to distinguish what his cries and signals are telling you, and before you know it you'll be telling the next new mom that it gets easier
Zoe didn't get on a somewhat predictable nap schedule until she was almost 1. Then soon after her first birthday I transitioned her to 1 longer nap (which is soooo much better for me!) and she does great. I think tis beetter for her too because she seems more rested and goes down at bedtime easier.
When she was teeny tiny she would do the same thing as D. I miss those little baby days, but this is a really fun, more predictable age. Well, as predictable as you can get with a kid anyway!
