Aw, that poor manatee on Bayshore. I knew about it before they reported it because someone at TGH saw it last night while I was at work and news spread around the hospital. I almost cried because they had thought it was a nursing mom. I am sad about the manatee, but I am a little relieved those weren't her babies. I am such a sap these days! I cry at the drop of a hat when it comes to kids/baby animals.
Do manatees nurse? I didn't realize that. How amazing. People who say that nursing is just "weird" and generally disapprove of it are really starting to bother me. I don't judge them (one person specifically that I'm thinking of, not from here) for choosing not to nurse, but nursing is not weird. It's freaking nature. That's my rant for the day.
Yes, they're mammals so the do. So do dolphins and whales. When the Frienship trail was open, H and I saw a dolphin swimming along nursing her baby. It was freaking awesome!!
I know, I hate it when people say that nursing is weird. If you choose not to do it, fine, but don't judge me for doing it! If nursing were so weird, the human race would've ceased to exist thousands of years ago. Formula has been around for maybe 100 years? Less than that?
At the LLL meeting last week the women with major oversupply issues were joking that they could've made a crap ton of money as wet nurses back in the day.
Word! So I didn't get the update on the babies after last night. Where are they now? Where's the mom? Did they cut her loose or being her somewhere? I'm too tired to google from my phone.

I was sick to my stomach when I heard about it on the news this morning. This afternoon they said that they were her babies but that they were old enough to survive on their own so FFW left them and took the mom out.
oooohhh, I see! This story plus the mom in the tornado who has found with her 3 year old alive in her arms had me a big mess this morning. I had to change the subject quick!
