WTF was up with Penny on this episode? She's always been the only character on the show with any common sense, but suddenly she can't use glue? Don't the writers remember when she made and sold a thousand Penny Blossoms, which were held together by GLUE?
I think her only lines in the entire episode were about how she couldn't use glue, dumb comments like "oh, when did I eat pistachios?," and reactions to other people's jokes.
If they turn her into Joey (from Friends) I will not be happy.
I agree. While watching this episode, I was thinking, "When did Penny get so dumb?" It was annoying. I thought the rest of the episode was funny though.

Sometimes I feel like the writers don't know what they are doing with any of the characters. I stopped caring about Penny when she said she wasn't sure if she wanted to keep dating Leonard and then we never heard about that story line again and suddenly thing were hunky dory.

Agreed!
It's not really a plot driven and it's not really character driven. It's just a series of events.

Rumor has it that "Penny" is pregnant IRL hence her shotgun engagement to the tennis player. The blind item gossip bit this came from said she is supposed to announce this around the holidays. When "Penny" broke her leg from her horse fall a few years ago she was also dumbed down and made the bartender for a while at her job. I'm wondering if they are paving the way to keep her somewhat out of any central stories for a while like they did before.
I used to really like this show but this season has not been great.
I still like it. This and HIMYM are the only sitcoms I make it a point to watch, and I've honestly never seen a bad episode of TBBT (while there are several HIMYMs that have been atrocious).
If Penny is indeed pregnant IRL, I really hope they don't write it into the show with her and Leonard having a baby.

Yes! I hate how they are portraying her lately. I feel like they've made her stupid and mean. There was an episode not too long ago where they even said she couldn't cook. She made Leonard spaghetti and it was all "crunchy". Did they forget she made fine spaghetti for Sheldon with the hotdogs after she and Leonard broke up the first time? I feel like they think we're stupid and won't notice these things.
I also wondered why they were having her break up with him already and then that plot totally went nowhere. Sigh, I used to love this show but I guess it peaked already.
Kaley Cuoco tweeted over the weekend that she's not pregnant. I hope either that's true or, if she is, that they don't make Penny pregnant. A Penny/Leonard baby storyline would suck.
I agree with pps that it is almost like the writers have either forgotten what they've done in the past (Penny and the spaghetti for example) or they just don't care. Raj is bugging me. I hated the girlfriend they gave him last season but this season he is just so annoying and needy. I don't like what they're doing with Sheldon either. I miss awkward Sheldon.
