Betty, ditto Ojo.
I also watched Forks over Knives. Eye op ening. Any and all recommendations are welcome, Ojo! And website links, etc. I've been making more of an effort towards clean eating for my family but this documentary makes me want to boycott most restaurants and chain stores/chain grocery stores. Buying local is something I really support but now I just feel like there is NO WAY to beat this gigantic mess unless people put their dollars into small farmers and local goods (even for staples you NEED from a store).

I saw King Corn and Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead on Netflix as I was browsing for Forks over Knives and Food, Inc. I'll have to look for Tapped. The issue is overwhelming because, you do what YOU can for your health and to limit your impact but...how do you change an entire nation who only wants to satisfy their craving for "quick and easy" EVERYTHING. At any cost.

Haven't heard of Tapped, I'll have to get on that one.
Honeybadger, I take it you had fun? DH doesn't react to these videos right away. Watching Super Size Me made him want chicken nuggets. But then months later he comes home from work on what was apparently pork chop day with a sudden moral objection to eating meat. It doesn't last for terribly long but it's happened twice now.
Edit: I haven't heard of Forks Over Knives. I now have some new material in my queue to get watching. Thanks guys!
I've been watching The Weight of the Nation series on our way to Korea. It's free on iTunes and I highly recommend it. It makes you kind of hate a lot of different people in the food industry.

I was raised on a small beef farm, and have no objection to eating meat. I don't necessarily think animal meat needs to be the primary source of protein in our diets but, I love meat.
Mass producing and genetically engineering beef, chicken, pork, etc and putting corn based products in everything...that, I do have a problem with.
ETA: I should say that I was aware of these issues, I just hadn't really done more digging on it until now. But I've been looking into things like red dye 40, yellow, etc and I knew I needed to just look at the entire issue of the food industry. Rather than kind of be aware that there was a problem. When I left Michigan and couldn't get meat from our farm anymore (other than when parents would visit and bring coolers of frozen meat) I finally had to buy store bought and the taste difference put me off...but we still bought it. We actually bought less beef and bought boneless skinless chicken breasts thinking we were better off than with store bought beef slime. LOL. Blech.
