I got to the thread late and didn't see a link for the wishlist but I bought Henry a copy of Night Before Christmas and then was given the same copy of the board book. They're both brand new. If it hasn't been bought, I'd love to send you one of them @otterama!
i am conflicted. i mean, i think it's awesome that people have stepped up to help. on the other hand, the help in the form of plastic toys and the like is....not really the kind of help that otter needs (IMO, and it's MY opinion, not yours). having said that, this is the true spirit of christmas, which makes me happy. on the other hand, this is like memorial bench territory. i sort of agree with both perspectives, even tacom's.
in summary, i'm sure no one will read this b/c i see the gifs have started.
I think you make valid points, and you weren't at all bitchy. It's the overt bitchiness my gif was aimed at (if I happened to be the gif poster you were referencing, which I probably wasn't but whatevs).

Someone probably mentioned this a billion and a half posts ago, but can you go to your local library and stock up on holiday goodies for free? You could get tons of picture books to read to the baby as well as books for you, CDs of Christmas music, and Christmas movies.

I'm also conflicted. I read through those bump posts and it's not good.
Also, for the love. Is imoan not the most heinous bitch on the entire planet?
I've wanted to be a mom since before I can remember and always dreamed of what Christmas would be like.
What I loved most that first Christmas was snuggling with DD and singing Christmas carols to her. Christmas felt more real than ever before. As ridiculously cheesy as it sounds, singing those songs about a new mother and her precious newborn child, while being a new mother with a precious newborn child, felt like a connection with mothers throughout time. I've always loved Christmas and its trappings, but that first Christmas together trumps all the trees, presents, cookies, gingerbread and egg nog of other years.
