I'm mostly a lurker but wanted to say thank you!!! Just made this for Christmas and it was a huge hit. I had 3 helpings. My husband swears it is the best thing I have ever made.
I just put this in the oven and I am DYING to taste it. The pan must've weighed ten pounds. This shit is gonna be EPIC. I just went and changed into stretchy pants in anticipation.
UPDATE: My husband loved this and told me keep the recipe and make it whenever it is delicious! So thanks and yes it was absolutely cheeeeeeezzzzzzzzy.. yummmmm. So thanks for another recipe to make my jiggly but a bit more jiggly.
I am making this tonight, I bookmarked this a few days ago and have been thinking about it ever since. So tonight's the night. I will report back, when I waddle back to my couch.
This is exactly how I make mac and cheese and it is indeed heavenly. I don't know if my proportions match Grandma Nugget's, but I plan to do extensive research to find out.

@&%*$(! diabetes! That sounds amazing. I love homestyle mac & cheese. Some of the best I've ever had was Al "Bubba" Baker's (from the Cleveland Browns) wife's Mac and Cheese. Oh.My.GAWD that stuff is good. Just throwing that out there because they cater now and if anyone is in the Cleveland area and wants some good down-home cooking, they're ones to call. Ohmiword their stuff is so good. #freeadvertisement
I'm bookmarking this anyway so that when I feel like ignoring my restrictions (pretty much every night) I'll give it a try. It comes a very close second to Chucklefuck.

I was planning on mac and cheese one night this week and was just thinking "How am I ever going to find Grandma Nugget's recipe" so thank you for bumping. I'm going to add some smoked gouda and bacon. I hope that's not against the rules, Nugget T. Brain, The OG!
Did I tell you about Grandma L's 70th birthday party that was catered by a soul food restaurant? The mac and cheese had fucking barely melted cheese slices on top and the greens were bitter as shit. It was a travesty.
.....soul food mac and cheese should NEVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH CHEESE SLICES. And bitter greens? Really?
Tell them to get their asses over to the Praline Connection in N'Awlin's if they need some assistance.
Or call Bubba Baker or his wife Sabrina out in Cleveland and ask for their recipe. I can't remember if it's hers or his but dayum it's good. Four different cheeses. So freaking rich and creamy and decadent. For those in the neighborhood, they have a restaurant in Avon now. When I was out there, they were just starting their business and trying to license the Bubba Q sauce and get it in stores.
I hate diabetes. DH is all "we have to cut out this stuff because you shouldn't be eating it." No, dammit, I want my carbs.
I wonder if this could be made in a way as a top of the stove sort of mac & cheese because my DH hates the baked kind.
Yes. I usually do that and don't bake. (Or throw in oven for short time just to melt cheese a little more. You prob want to melt the cheese in the white sauce and then combine.
