Why aren't we talking about this? lol
I liked it a lot. It was really plot-focused and not just "let's get a bunch of cameos into one episode." Tumblr was amazing afterwards, there were so many inside references. I do see why people get all irritated with Moffat's depiction of women, though. I mean, making Elizabeth I into a lovesick sap?
So, are we calling the Peter Capaldi Doctor Thirteen?
I liked it too. I was impressed over all. The only thing is, I really wanted Rose to be Rose. I get why they made her the Bad Wolf, it makes perfect sense that he'd go looking for her when he changed. But I wanted Rose!
No, Peter will be 12 still. I'm not throwing my numbering out now. lol
Elizabeth. Oh man. I know why they used her- she's been in the series before. I did like that she killed the Zygon.

Here's Moffat's explanation, which actually made me pretty happy.
“I thought the story of Rose, which was beautiful, was done,” he said. “I didn’t want to add to it, and I didn’t feel comfortable adding to it, really. That was always [former Doctor Who showrunner] Russell [T Davies]‘s story. But we did want Billie. And I liked the idea of bringing back the Bad Wolf version. The way Russell ended it in “The End of Time,” by just sort of looping it around, was perfect. I didn’t want to stick another bit of it in. That would be wrong. I just wanted to get Billie Piper, one of the absolute heroes of Doctor Who, back in the show, but without interfering with the story of Rose Tyler. I just thought I might spoil something. I might trip over my bootlaces doing that.”

Here's some of the trivia:
Cybermen in this painting:
The first episode of Doctor Who aired at 5:16 PM on November 23, 1963.
17-16-23-11-63 THE EXACT TIME THE FIRST EPISODE OF DOCTOR WHO AIRED
The doctor's phone number is the same number previously used for him:
Doctor Who phone number has fans in frenzy Thousands of Dr Who fans called his fictitious phone number seeking answers about the show's future ahead of Saturday's final episode, it has emerged. By Aislinn Simpson 8:12AM BST 07 Jul 2008 The number - 07700 900461 - flashed up on screen during the penultimate episode as the Doctor's sidekicks Sarah Jane Smith, Martha Jones and the Torchwood team tried to contact him. Fans tormented by the cliffhanger ending and the resurgence of a rumour that David Tennant might be leaving the show after Saturday's final decided to take matters into their own hands. Up to 2,500 attempted to ring the fictitious number, which is reserved for television shows. But instead of getting answers from the Doctor, they were greeted with by a dead line.
I have one issue. I think I missed it, but I have no idea how, but what the heck happened to the UNIT people stuck inside the Black Archives after the memory wipe thing? Scarf girls had the inhaler switch thing and then Clara talked to War Doctor and he left to make his decision and then…. what? Did they ever go back to the UNIT people? I have no memory of it. Are they still stuck in there?
There was so much crap going on when I watched that I must have just blanked that bit out or something.
Also. Damn, I love Billie Piper. Right after she had that great bit about how the Tardis sound gives hope to all who hear it, she smiled, and damn. Girl is gorgeous. She's not my favorite companion, but I still love her in this and some of her other stuff. She was awesome.
ETA: Another random tidbit. There's that part near the end where the High Councilman says something like "Oh, no, there's THREE of them. All my nightmares coming true" And I turned to DH and said, "You know what River'd say, don't you? 'Heaven. I'm in Heaven…' Or rather, 'The mind races.'"

They never went back -- I think you just assume they reached an agreement that worked for everybody. I personally don't quite understand the memory wipe thing...how did it wipe their memories of whether they were humans or Zygons, but they still remembered the whole situation (e.g., everything that happened to date, that they needed to reach a compromise, etc.). Oh well, probably one of those things you shouldn't think too clearly about.
We went to the 3-D theatre screening last night. Here's the other thing that really bugged me. When Eleven is looking at the No More painting, he makes a big deal about "he was there, the one I never talk about, the one I've tried to forget." Then later Rose-Interface calls Ten "the one who regrets" and Eleven "the one who forgets." Even at the end Eleven makes a big deal about how he's tried to hide what happened, even from himself. SO, when Clara is talking to the War Doctor, she says, "He talks about it all the time, my doctor. How he destroyed Gallifrey and killed all the Time Lords." I was like, "What the what?"

If I had my preference it would go: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, the War Doctor, 9, 10, 11, 13. :-D Nine, Ten, and Eleven stay "themselves" but Capaldi is already thirteen in my mind since he came in with the intro, "All thirteen!!!!"

The war doctor can be 8.5 and Peter can be 12. You can't skip a number! lol

Of course you can! It's wibbley-wobbley-timey-wimey!
Does the Doctor ever refer to the numbers himself? If not, then the numbering would correspond to the way we've been introduced to them, and I can buy it.
Otherwise, the numbers being out of order is going to irritate me forever. Timey-wimey indeed.
I really loved the show, but I feel weird about the Doctor forgetting everything. I bought the introduction of 10 and 11 because of the whole "You weren't paying attention!" line, which I thought was amusing and in character. But the final forgetting of the whole incident felt sloppy. Especially with all of the Doctors involved.I've always appreciated that they were careful about this kind of thing*, so this didn't sit right with me.
* The ontological paradox in Blink is actually one of my favorite parts of the episode.
I was okay with Rose not coming back as Rose. I think that would be more poignant later in the future. Like the 75th anniversary or something. Show her and her human version of the Doctor in their life together.

I'm so glad you all are talking about this over here.
dr.girlfriend mentioned on the Entertainment board Doctor Who post that we should come over here, and I was excited to see so many Who fans! DH and I drove an hour and a half to the closest theater to see it in 3D last night. We didn't dress up though. I have to draw the line somewhere. There were a lot of people in costume, and it was awesome to see the Doctor on the big screen.
John Hurt is amazing. And I was happy with how they used Billie Piper. I liked Moffat's quote about it, and I agree with him. That story is over. But I love Billie. Glad to see her back.
Running out to work, but I'll hang out a little more here for good Doctor Who discussions.
