A few days ago I noticed a bruise and a small bump on Eloise's back. I thought maybe it was a bug bite, but she was acting like it was really bothering her. She was refusing to lay on her back and freaked out during diaper changes. She would arch her back and roll over and she cried if I touched it. The next day it was bigger in size and it looked really red around it. I took her to the pedi and she said it looked like an abscess so she gave E an antibiotic and she said to bring her back if it gets worse.
Fast forward to today, and the thing is even bigger and the redness around it had spread. It was hot to the touch, and E had a fever and was refusing to eat or drink anything. I took her to get it drained, and I'm not sure which one of us ended up being more traumatized. Eloise gets extremely worked up when she has to see a doctor, and today she ended up puking all over me twice. The first time in my hands and the second time all down my shirt and on herself. That was before they started doing anything to her.
Once they started draining it she needed to be held down by three people. I was no use because I started crying watching her cry. She ripped out chunks of hair trying to hold onto me so tightly. We drove home with all of the windows down because I was gagging over the smell of myself. When we got home I immediately brought her into the shower with me, but she hates getting wet so she was shrieking and scratching my legs the entire time.
I finally got everyone ready for bed and started to unload the dishwasher and I cut my finger on a damn knife. It was a small cut and it barely bled but it was enough for me to say fuck it and drink a beer instead.
I swear, if things don't start easing up for you, I think I'm going to start a voodoo circle or some shit. Poor you, and poor E...that thing looks painful
The doctor said she would feel so much better after it was drained and the infection was gone. I gave her some Tylenol before bed to help her sleep and she seems to be ok for now.
