and there is a 4.5 foot alligator crossing the street. would you run over it or wait until it went across to the empty lot and then watch it crawl into the pond behind your house?
Well I live in New England so if there was an alligator I would call Animal Control. Haha.
If I was in an area where they were native I would probably burst into tears, bang a Uie and speed off in the opposite direction. omg those things are so scary

also, this is just a hypothetical that i was thinking of as i drove home this morning.
there was an alligator crossing the street that i drive on to get home (but not the street i live on) a couple of weeks ago. he was crossing the street and some sandhill cranes were trying like mad to get him to leave the empty lot he was going into that eventually lead him to the pond that sits behind my house.
and it got me thinking...if i were driving my car at the time i'd be tempted to run it over, because alligators scare the piss out of me and i have kids and dogs and it could get hungry and eat one of us. but i'd feel really bad killing an alligator so i would probably just take pictures of it crossing the road and then be paranoid forever about it creeping up on us.
I saw someone do this to a snake once. There is no one that hates snakes more than me and I was horrified. I mean the alligator is scary but even if you want it dead I hope it isn't done by running it over.
My old neighbor was old and used to hunt before he got old and tired easily. 6 months before he died he shot a gator that wasin the canal behind our house (we lived on a large lake, gators are there)
He killed it, but someone reported him and he had to go to court and take some sort of course about illegally killing animals and animal abuse. (I guess it wasn't season or something??)
But yeah if you run it over make sure no one is watching!
Personally I wouldn't run it over, I would be tempted but my luck I wouldn't kill it I would just injure it and then I would have to go all Rambo on the poor thing and run it over a bunch of times.

My aunt ran one over on accident. We were all screaming it was awful!
D. Call animal control and go get some coffee but I wouldn't expect anything to happen too quickly. At the last job I had in Fort Lauderdale, it took more than a week to trap the alligator who was hanging out in a nearby drainage area.

Alligators freaking terrify me more than any other living creature on this planet. I do not know why, since I don't live in the south and I've never even seen one outside of a zoo or a movie. Yet I have this irrational fear of alligators. The very thought of them makes me panic.
