Did anyone watch The Big Bang Theory last night? What did you think?
Overall I thought it was pretty funny. I laughed a lot at the guys in the fat suits. Leonard's dopey smile when he heaved himself out of Raj's armchair nearly had me on the floor.
Howard wishing his mother was dead wasn't funny at all. Him doing her voice was kind of funny, but the overall premise was just weird. I get that she and Howard were way too clingy, but it's not like she always kept Howard chained in the basement or something ... he was always a willing participant in her clingy nonsense.
Stuart's loneliness isn't that funny, either. With Raj it's funnier because at least he has friendships, but Stuart's constant "woe is me" storylines are just irritating. It's like they're making fun of someone with depression. And I don't get why, if the end tag fantasy was Stuart's, he didn't get more than a peck on the cheek from Penny. (Although I laughed hard when Raj asked why he was also fat and he mumbled, "Well, Leonard was fat ...").
I also enjoyed Zack's brief storyline with the beans and both he and Penny peeing.
I felt really bad for Amy in the cupcake scene - it's nice to know that the group values her as a friend. The screensaver was a cute payoff, though. And it's interesting that we as an audience are sort of in the same point of view as Amy ... getting frustrated that Sheldon doesn't show her any affection, and then taking a lot of pleasure in his small gestures (like the screensaver, and on Valentine's Day when he listed her as his emergency contact). I think it's smart to have us see all of this stuff as Amy sees it, rather than see something like Sheldon in his room thinking about Amy.
The Penny Hitting on Sheldon storyline didn't make sense at all. First off, I though from the beginning that the alternate storylines were assuming that Sheldon didn't exist, but I guess it was just supposed to be if he'd never met Leonard and the rest of the group. Second, Penny has always found Sheldon to be really annoying (although she clearly likes him as a friend) so I don't get why she'd strip down for him ... although I guess it makes sense since it was Amy's scenario and Amy's always had a girl crush on Penny.
And I thought for sure that they were trying to hide Penny/Kaley Cuoco's belly by having her hunched over in Wii Skiing (and I swear it looked like a bump when she leaned back) and putting her in a dark sweater behind the couch - and in the last episode she was always sitting with her leg up or with a cup in front of her belly - but that clearly wasn't the case in the laundry room scene when she took her shirt off. That's KC's personal business, of course, and I know she's denied a pregnancy on Twitter, but I just hope that if it's ever true that they don't turn it into a storyline with her and Leonard.

Of course he Sheldon/Penny story wasn't realistic. I don't think any of the alternate reality stories were supposed to be. They were supposed to be funny. Amy finds Sheldon desirable, so in her scenerio, Penny found him desirable as well.
