Nothing will ever convince this southern girl that that flag isn't about racism. If growing up in a place where the war was taught as "states rights" not "slavery," where Daughters of the Confederacy was a bigger honor than Junior League, and where half county plastered it on their car - its not going to happen now.
I'm not saying that everyone who flies it is racist, just misguided. And friggin stubborn that they refuse to see what it symbolized then and what it has come to symbolize now.
I would like to thank CE&P for swooping in and making me feel like I'm not the one in here taking crazy pills.
I don't know if some people in this thread are being intentionally obtuse, are just being stubborn and digging their heels in, or really are ignorant of the situation/history.
I'm with you. This is one of those threads that makes you think differently about people. But, apparently I'm the ignorant one.
