you should yell at the top of your lungs "HONEY.... someones at the door...can you get it?...oh forget it, I'm not getting up either".
I feel bad for my neighbors. My DH's job has crazy security clearances and detectives (I think thats what they are) come talk to our neighbors all the time to confirm things about us. There is no way around this at all and our neighbors just get knocks on the doors without warning (we've told them in advance but they could show up a year later, who knows). They will keep coming back if the homeowners don't answer.
Yeah but you can always tell when it's the men in black.

For every time a burglar breaks in when no one answers, there is a time that someone shoves their way in when someone does. I will take my chances of not opening my door.
I can see yelling through a window or through a closed door, but I am not going to open my door to a stranger when I am home alone, and not even when H is home if it's late at night. We just got through having a series of home invasions over the past few months, so I am OK with being labeled as paranoid. Maybe I am but no one has targeted our home for a break-in yet.
All the people who answer their door must not have seen the movie with Gerard Butler, where he answers the door and the burglars kill his wife and daughter, and Gerard Butler winds up in the hospital.
