So, as you all know I nurse DS at work. I have the option to WAH 2 days a week. The daycare is nextdoor to my work and about 2 miles from my house. So door to door takes maybe 15 minutes.
My issue is I am trying to decide if I want to WAH. I would still have to bring DS to daycare in the morning and I am not willing to give up nursing at lunch. 99% of the time I nurse DS at 1130 but occasionally he needs to eat earlier. Right now it is easy because it is a 3 minute walk to the center, but if I work from home this will be a bigger issue.
Part of me thinks I should just stick it out for another 6 months (then again I don't know if I will want to give up the lunch nursing then either). It seems like a pain to come up here twice a day from home, but then I feel dumb giving up WAH. On the other hand, part of the benefit of WAH is sleeping in, which I can't do ha ha.

If daycare is only 2 miles from your house, I wouldn't find it to be that big a deal to run up there and nurse him - especially since he may drop sessions soon once he phases into solids. WFH seems like a big benefit if the setup appeals to you.

One of the problems, which I forgot to mention in my original post. Is that I am on production at work (we need a certain number of cases a month). Pumping already screws that up then our WAH system is from the stone age so it takes a lot of time out of the day when you come back to transfer everything. So I am also a bit worried about not getting my work done (of course I say that as I play on the GBCN).
If you would otherwise WFH, I wouldn't let your nursing schedule change that. 2 miles probably won't take too much time to get there, and if you want to work from home long term you might as well start now. I will say that as DD got older, it would have become more and more difficult for me to go nurse her at lunch time...too disruptive to her day. She melts down when I drop her off at day care most days (this started around 11 months, maybe a little younger) and I just couldn't do that to her twice a day. Even now if I have to go to daycare for something I make sure she doesn't see me because she'll freak out. So...that was a long way of saying I'd take the WFH option because I couldn't count on nursing her midday long term.
I worked from home 2 days a week, but I did because it meant it was so much easier to drop-off/pick-up DS (we were doing a nanny share and he was just down the hall) and saved 1.5 hours in my day. I was also able to take him to a music class during lunch one of the days. If WFH doesn't make your life easier, then I wouldn't do it right now. Sounds like it would just be more complicated for you.
Though there is great benefit to wearing your pjs for the majority of the day.
I would probably give up WAH for now, since you don't want to give up the lunch nursing session. Also, like you said, one of the benefits of WAH is sleeping in, and you wouldn't be able to do that. I'd hate to be adding more stress in my day (old computer system) to WAH.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
If the offer is take it or leave it, I'd go ahead and do it and put up with the pain of driving to daycare to nurse him. If it will always be an option, then I'd probably hold off until you aren't BFing anymore.

Nope, the WAH is always an option. I have a laptop and I can just do it whenever I want (well as long as whenever is a Monday and Tuesday). I have worked long enough in the government to know that I need to sign up for things whether I want to use it or not ha ha.
I would suck it up for the next 6 months, especially since you can't sleep in anyway . How about working from a Starbucks close by? Will that help or do you just want to work in your PJs?

Umm I MAY Just want to watch trashy tv while working ha ha. We can't work in public areas anyway too much sensitive info.
Lol, I don't blame you if you have the ability to do it! How about working in the office in the mornings, nursing, then doing work at home. Can your DH do the pick up so you don't have to go back those days?

We aren't allowed to do that and no DH doesn't get home till 7pm. Oh well, 6 months or so is really not that long from now. Maybe once I get more back into the swing of things at work.
