Sleeping in temperatures greater than 72 degrees significantly increases the risk of SIDS in infants, according to the same study that found sleeping on their back reduces the incidence of SIDS in infants.

Why even have a/c? That's so stupid to have it and not use it so he can toughen up his kids. I assume he's the same kind of father who plays way too rough with them so they'll get used to it. Motherfucker. I understand that people survived for years without it but his reason for not using it now is asinine. \gavel.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

Jeez. I don't even think its possible to get my house down to 72 in the summer when it 120+ outside.

Also, this reminds me of bil, who wouldn't allow his 4 yo to get numbing meds when they were stapling his head together after a fall. To "toughen him up" wtf
It's over 80 degrees in my kids' bedrooms even though our thermostat is set at 70. Should I turn myself in to CPS? You're being a freak. I seriously doubt the baby is in any danger.

I haven't been in a place that has A/C in almost a year. Let me tell ya, 27 sweatin' 7th graders in a hot room with only one fan is not my idea of fun.
MN gets that hot in the summer? I figured it might be like Seattle or something...Even AC is uncommon in Hawaii unless you like the window units.
Either way that dad is a dumb ass. I would bitch slap him if i were married to him
Yeah, it does. It kind of sucks here sometimes. When I left my house at 4:45 this morning to go to the gym, it was already 81 and it was like walking into hot soup thanks to the humidity. Kind of that can't breathe it's so humid type weather. Bleh.
If you knew this dude like I did, you'd know he probably doesn't have a fan going or anything. Most of his posts are about him working out and how awesome Muscle Milk is and badly spelled lyrics to country western songs.
Also I don't understand what "well some people don't even have one" has to do with this situation.
Well, if its CPS worthy to choose to keep your kid in a 90 degree house then those standards are also unacceptable for someone who has no choice in the matter as well. Either its an acceptable risk or not. Whether the situation is voluntary is irrelevant.
Calling CPS for this would be like calling CPS on someone who chooses to feed their kid crappy cheap food 24/7 when they could afford better. They don't remove kids whose parents wish they could afford better food but keep them fed on crappy food. Crappy food is crappy, but acceptable, regardless of the intentions of the parents.
High indoor temps during heat waves aren't ideal, but aren't abusive, regardless of the parental intentions involved. See?

I love nuggetbrain and all of her posts, even this one. If the guy is purposely keeping his kid hot to toughen him up, that's shitty and sad. Especially if they live in a place where extreme heat isn't that common. I'd feel the same if he said he was keeping the house cold to toughen the baby up.
I don't know how well his theory would work anyway. I grew up with no a/c in NJ. It wasn't until high school that mom and dad sprung for a window unit that stayed in the living room. Today, I loathe the heat. Dad may need a new way to toughen the baby up. I hear pinching works well.
