Now that I'm in full training mode again, I plan to actually post again! I've felt funny posting the last couple months since I was in my traditional "post-Ironman hiatus" and basically doing nothing.
What does everyone have in store for 2014? What races/competitions/events are on the calendar? (They don't have to be running-related!)
This is my calendar so far: March 1st - Woodlands Marathon (Woodlands, TX) June 15th - Ironman 70.3 Boulder (Boulder, CO - home sweet home!) July 13th - Boulder Peak Tri (Boulder, CO) August 3rd - Ironman Boulder (Boulder, CO - the inaugural IM Boulder!)
I was planning on doing the Steamboat 50 for my first ultra this year, but it's only a month after IM Boulder, and I KNOW I won't be recovered enough. So I think that will have to wait until 2015. But I would love to go and cheer and/or crew/pace for blndsnbrdr!
January 11th - Weightlifting meet February 8th - "slack off" comp (meaning my team isn't very good so I'll just kind of show up and do my thing)
After than, I plan to have a breast reduction, so I'm not scheduling anything after that. If the reduction is after March or RIGHT after the 2/8 comp, I might do the CF Open just for fun. Then starting in late spring I'll schedule some more rigorous comps.
ETA: never mind, the open starts early this year. It probably won't workout with my surgery.

I signed up for my second half-marathon yesterday (it's in April). Hoping to work on speed while I'm training to get a PR closer to 2 hrs (my first was 2:09) I'm focusing on that for now and might do a squat challenge this month that I found on Pinterest :-)
Jan-May: pregnant, due May 15. Just trying to workout as much as possible during this time Fall: 5k/10k depending on how cooperative baby jene is with my running schedule Shoot for half in early 2015
I've got the Houston marathon coming up in late January and then a half scheduled for early February. After that, probably going to find a couple 5ks and/or 10ks to see what I can do after 7 months of marathon training. There's an early April half that I've run the past couple years, so if I'm really missing the distance work I may sign up late for that.
Around July 1, give or take, I will be starting residency (hopefully, I mean) so after that it's a giant crapshoot and I think my goal will be to maintain 25-30 miles a week.
I'd like to run a few head-to-head races that my run club is doing, but we will have to see what fits in where.
I am doing a snowshoe race later this month, a sprint tri in April, and then IMTX in May! After that I will play the rest of the year by ear as we hope to get pregnant.
Jan 5 - Local 5k March 2 - 10 miler March 15 - Possible 5k, depends on if Mr. GT runs the RNR full or not March 21 - Possible half, if I find cheap airfare to visit my parents April 13 - 10 miler April 27 - half May 4 - 5k
I'll probably do a fair number of local 5ks, but I decide on those once it gets closer to race date.

From now through March 8, I'm doing a local series - it's a race every other weekend 5K to 5mi - just to keep motivated and outside in the winter. March - Shamrock 8K & Half again this year - hoping for a big PR! April - Cherry Blossom 10mi and MAYBE another shot at the Kent Island Metric Marathon May - Apple Blossom 10K June-September - NOTHING - learned my lesson last year about racing in the hot ass summer! October - Wineglass Marathon (my first FULL - eek) November - Across the Bridge 10K (Chesapeake Bay Bridge, MD) & Some sort of local turkey trot
I may add on a couple other races, but my main focus will be training for my marathon later this year. I got WAY burnt out after running 8 half marathons this past year.
Feb: Myrtle Beach 1/2 Mar: all the 5k's. LOL. I think I found 3 in a row. I really want a PR. Apr: Boston Marathon Summer: local 5k's and 10k's Sept (dates/TBD): Western Md 1/2, Freedom's Run marathon Oct: MCM (if I get in)
I *think* my year is going to look something like this...
March 15 - Run Through Time Trail Full April 19 - Desert Rats 50K (maybe) May 10 - Quad Rock 50M <-- only race registered for so far June 14 - Mt Evans Ascent June 28 - North Fork 50M August 1&2 - Wild West Relay (if needed on team) September 12&13 - Run Rabbit Run 100M
There will be a fair amount of local 10K-half races if I make it onto the LRS race team again.
And reginaphalange72 -- actually hoping to be a volunteer at the Boulder IM but if I end up running WWR I'll be busy all weekend. Definitely come up to Steamboat for RRR if you get the chance! Changed my life!

So my schedule keeps morphing but right now this is what I'm thinking:
Feb 16 - George Washington's Birthday 10k March 15 - Arlington Four Courts Four Miler April 13 - George Washington parkway classic 10 miler May 3 - Frederick Half Marathon
At the moment, all I've registered for are the RNR DC Half in March and the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in April. I'm sure I'll do some 5-10Ks too and would like to do a sprint or Olympic tri before we move at the end of June. The last half of the year is up in the air.
I am excited to get back into a training schedule! This post is inspiring! I am joining a gym next week and will work on strength training there (I went in December and have my first personal trainer session next week).
April: Hershey 10K Memorial Day weekend: Local 5K June: possibly a half if I can find one before we go on vacation! August: Metric century charity ride
I will do 5Ks and rides during the year. Keeping the fall open for something, just not sure what.
1/26/14: Town of Celebration Marathon 3/1/14: Possibly something in Albany. I'll either pace a friend for the full, or go for a 1/2 PR & then join her in her final miles. 3/15/14: Gate River Run 15k
I really want to do the Oregon Wine Country half (we have friends in Dallas, OR), but it's Labor Day weekend, & Labor Day looks like the best weekend to be gone for the Italy trip we are looking at. Excuse me & my first world problems.
March - Shamrock 5k April - 5 mile Ice Breaker May - K9 9K and/or local half June - (a marathon, just unsure which one right now. Possibly Governor's Cup) August - local half September - Air Force Marathon November - Turkey Trot

I am only registered for one thing so far, but have loose plans as follows. Was pleasantly surprised that race fees qualify for my employer's reimbursement of 50% up to $500/yr. Yay!

Other 5ks sprinkled in, and I'm afraid to say it to myself, but my dream goal is to do a half in the fall. Longer term, shooting for a 2015 full and a ragnar if i can convince some friends to join the crazy;D
Ask me in March after my off season. The only things I know I'm definitely doing: Bump N Grind AMBC Mountain bike race-first weekend of June Cyclocross National Championships-Jan. 2015 (considered by USA Cycling to be part of the 2014-15 race season)

After 2013, my 2014 race schedule is not that full, kind of want to give myself time to just enjoy running but also work on my times. One thing I've decided, no redemption marathon until 2015.
Running the hot chocolate 15k in Atlanta in January A local 10k in February Nashville country music half and my first obstacle 5k in April Sure I will run some 10ks and then I want to run the Portland Maine half in October
As of now the only race I'm signed up for is the B&A half on 3/30 but I'm also considering a half 4/3 as well. I really want to shoot for a fall full. Maybe wineglass? I don't know and am open to suggestions. There's always the baltimore marathon which is local but I've done that a few times already.

Feb 1 - best damn race 10k Feb 23 - WDW Princess Half March 16 - first watch half April - iron girl 5k ? May - 5k ? Sept - Augusta HIM relay with emilyj Oct - Halloween 5k Nov - maybe a half, turkey trot 5k Spece coast half - cant remember if that is in nov or dec.
Well, most of this depends on how the Achilles thing goes. Right now, here's what I'm thinking/hoping:
Jan - Tink 10k and half Feb - maybe walk the Princess half May - registered for Colorado full, can move down to half, 10k or 5k; hopefully Bolder Boulder Aug - Disneyland half (deferred from this year) Sep/Oct - some local stuff...there are a lot of 5 and 10k races here Nov - Wine and Dine half (still a maybe...doing a couples trip perhaps)
