Oh you guys... So much fun today. Stopped at nearly all the photos, stopped to pee in a real bathroom, chatted with people. I ran in a super fluffy tutu. And still ran a 2:04. Yay!
The finish line announcer was so cute... "Tara! You ran yesterday! We love your last name around here...let's be bffs!" Okay!
The pictures slowed me in the first half which allowed me to run a strong second half. But really, it was thinking of pixy's little angel that kept me going. Miles 9-13 were the calmest, smoothest, easiest miles I've had in a long time and she was in my head the whole time. The last mile was definitely my fastest, because I just needed to be done...I could feel the breakdown coming. My finish line pics are going to be of an ugly ugly cry that I just couldn't stop.
I'm really glad I had the opportunity to be here this weekend. I loved the back to back races. I'm really going to miss running if I'm in the boot come Wednesday, but this was a good one.
PS- I seriously love you guys. You are amazing and I'm lucky to have the support you give. *hugs* /sappiness
You're making me all teary eyed again. Between Pixy and the #megsmiles, it's been an emotional weekend. So glad you were able to get back out there, you made awesome time! You'll have to share your pics with the characters!
Ahh Tara I'm so glad you had a good day! I was tearing up periodically on the course today too after everything, and I think tapering made me extra emotional. I hope you don't have to go in the boot, but regardless I'm positive you'll come back stronger than ever!
I'm so glad you had this day. You deserved it. You're amazing. Only you could possibly be on the verge of a boot , run back to back races, AND do it all like a badass.
I think everyone can understand the heavy heart, and hopefully we can all pull strength from all of these senseless tragedies lately. Run for those who no longer can. Run for those who will never even have the chance to know the joy of it. Those thoughts filled my last, long, training run yesterday. I imagine we are all carrying a lot of that with us right now.

I'm so glad it was a great weekend for you! You had some impressive times with being injured and stopping for pics. Hopefully you can avoid the boot, but if not, you went out with a bang!
SO, so happy you had good races and enjoyed them. Yes-- you are a rock star for being on the verge of a boot & still running a strong race. It wasn't very many years ago that 2:04 would have been a 1/2 PR for me. Way to go! Hope you get good news from your doctor. Heal up now, stat!
Tara you are so amazing! I'm so glad that you had fun out there this weekend. I've been thinking about you a lot, because I know your heart was incredibly heavy. (heart)
I ran it this weekend too! And was thinking of Pixy the whole race. Especially because of all the Pixy dust references. I started crying at mile 10, thinking about it.
But apart from that, I had a GREAT time. I ran with my cousins, and we were in coral H so there was a bit of walking when we got stuck behind people in the tight areas, and it took me 3 hours to finish, but I had SO much fun. Really fun, easy race. My last big race was the 2013 SD marathon, which I didn't train for and was the most miserable experience I have ever had. So I needed today.
