Morning!! :-)
Not too much going on today! Keeping busy at work, then off to Zumba tonight. Hopefully relaxing on the couch after that. I am tired!!!
Weekend was great! Went shopping and had lunch with a friend on Friday, then stayed at home Friday evening. Saturday, I met other friends for lunch, then hung out with friends to eat pizza (homemade, yum!) and watch two of the Oscar nominees (Gravity and Her). It was a great weekend!
QOTD: Last night, we went out for a friend's birthday, so we had sushi!! Yum!!!
Not much going on today. It's a frosty morning here, and I'm trying to decide if I should haul my butt to the gym on the way to work. Should be a normal (if quiet) work day, then I have a breastfeeding class tonight. This baby is going to be here before we know it!
QOTD: We had baked penne with italian sausage. Super-easy to make, and provides lots of leftovers for H and I to take to work this week for lunches.
Boring day today: I need to write my methodology section for one of my articles. Also need to follow the streaming of a major hearing about gas extraction and safety in the province. The weekend was good. DH and I had a lazy Saturday. I slept until 10am. We had a few microbrews in the fridge which we tasted while watching Captain Philips and American Hustle. Sunday I visited one of the local chapters, and went on a tour of the province with a national representative. It was a busy Sunday; I left at 10am and came home at 10pm.
QOTD: I was out for dinner for work. We were at a place where they only do small plates and we shared pizza, couscous salad, green salad, bread with spreads, egg rolls, onion rings, wraps, and we had tomato soup. It was really good and I hope to go back to this place with DH soon.
QOTD: we made chicken tandoori with dhal tarka and coconut rice. The tandoori mix we used wasn't tandoori enough (though it was still yummy) but OMG the dhal was soooo good! It tasted just like the real stuff from the indian restaurant.

Good morning! It was the Australia Day holiday here, so we had my in-laws over for an indoor picnic. The weekend was relatively quiet, though I head from my parents in NOLA that there was a power surge in the house that blew out all the tvs in the house, the fridge, and half the house's electric outlets no longer work. So they are having to file a claim with their homeowner's insurance. I am sorry they have to deal with that. And worse, they have had numerous conversations with the electric company, whose computers say that nothing is wrong and nothing happened.
QOTD: Last night was the latest in my series of not-really-Australian-at-all Australia Day meals. I did Ginger Chicken Stir Fry over noodles and White Chocolate M&M Brownies.
Afternoon. I went to a play centre with the two girls this morning. Left after around the 10th time dd1 cried. Clearly, she was too tired! I've enforced a nap on her now, which is unusual for her. Might bring them to the library later. Depending on behaviour.
I did a bread making course yesterday which was great. A day off for me!
Not a lot planned for the week really. A friend is calling over on Friday with her 2 boys. Weather is fairly poor for the whole week - gales, rain, sleet.... Delightful!
QOTD: nothing in the end. I still wasn't feeling great after my tummy bug on Thursday. Was ok Saturday but not yesterday. Bizarre!
DH is in the UK for the next 11 days. DH's coworker and friend is going to visit his girlfriend in Guizhou, China for the New Year and invited me to come along, so I'm going there for 4 nights in a few days. DH gets major husband points for encouraging me to go so I wouldn't be bored and lonely without him. The flight wasn't cheap either so I appreciate him being willing to sacrifice a little of our travel money for me to go away.
QOTD: Tonight I had a small salad with balsamic vinegar and a tortilla with hummus and veggies. I had a sweet potato for dessert, weird I know.
I had a pretty busy weekend. Girls' Night on Friday, shopping Saturday morning, cross-country skiing in the afternoon, followed by a dinner party. Then more cross-country and cleaning on Sunday. I need a break!
QOTD: I wasn't that hungry after skiing, so I just had half a frozen pizza.

Hi there,
On Friday, I went over to some friends' house where they were having a taco night. The guy hosting the party is Puerto Rican from Florida so he had us try coquito which he called Puerto Rican eggnog. I'd never had it before but it was delicious. He gave out bottles to everyone who came.
Later in the week, I saw the movies I, Frankenstein and Her. I was entertained. I thought Her was fantastic.
QOTD: On Saturday night, I had Thai which consisted of penang chicken, a very good tom yum goong with shrimp, and some shared dumplings and summer rolls. Last night, I went to Chipotle because I was feeling a bit of cabin fever. So yeah, I had a spicy chicken burrito bowl with guacamole.
40% of the way through the work week! I'm having a crazy week with work and the chaos continues at home because I'm playing single working mom this week. Basically, I'm just trying to hunker down and get through it.
QOTD: Last night we had barley, chickpeas, and veggies in a spicy peanut coconut sauce. Sounds totally blah, but it was actually pretty tasty. I will call it a win because I got a two year old to like eating cabbage, bean sprouts, and mushrooms.

This sounds exactly like the kind of dinner I'd have if DH was away. yum.
Nice weekend. DH was actually up for doing things and not working for once. He did errands on Saturday while DS and I stayed home. Then on Sunday we went to the botanical gardens for a picnic with a bunch of friends. My shoulders got so sunburned!
QOTD: One of DH's errands was to go to a fish shop we'd been meaning to try for ages. He got enthusiastic and bought a TON of fresh tuna. We had tuna steaks on Saturday and tuna ragu over pasta last night.

We watched Her on Saturday! I thought it was good too, and found myself continually thinking about things even the day or so after watching. So I'd say that's a good film :-P
