Morning!!!
Happy Thursday! Almost the weekend for most of you! (For us, the weekend is here, yay!)
Anything fun going on today? Everyone in the US staying warm?
QOTD: I'm heading to a chili cookoff tonight, so in honor of that, how do you prefer your chili? (Spicy/not spicy? Meat or no meat? Beans?) What about favorite toppings? Any thing else you like to eat with it?
H will be back from Europe tomorrow morning and I can't wait for him to hang with DD for a few hours so I can get some down time. I had a crazy work week, which was made even crazier by DD not sleeping because she misses H.
No firm plans this weekend, probably a few runs, maybe a bike ride, maybe a morning at the beach.
QOTD: I like turkey chili with beans. I prefer to top mine with Greek yogurt and ketchup. That sounds gross when I write it down.

Morning!! I'm soooo glad it's Thursday!
Today I'm at work, and then tonight off the chili cookoff. Then hopefully home to relax a bit before a busy weekend ahead!!
QOTD: I never actually liked chili growing up because my dad always made it spicy!!! Now that I've made it for myself, I like it with beans (usually black, kidney and pinto) and corn, and maybe some pasta. I actually prefer it without meat, and obviously mild :-P
My favorite toppings are cheese and sour cream (although I've switched to using plain greek yogurt since it's healthier)!! I love cornbread with my chili! Yum! I may have to make some this weekend.

Oh, I didn't see this and started a good morning thread! Ooops! I thought I'd be all daring and go for it today. I'm glad this week is winding down; I've got like four weeks left at my current job, and it is sucking my will to live. I'm starting my new job on April 1. Anyway, I have read all of the internet, and now I'm waiting for our bistro downstairs to open so I can get some coffee and a salami roll.
QOTD: I like my chili with a lot of beef and beans!
Morning! I'm jealous of those of you who are on the weekend already. This week is DRAGGING….seriously. Not like we have any plans for the weekend or anything, just chilling out…but I'm ready for a break.
QOTD: I like my chili with meat and beans, not too spicy. H really likes eating chili over rice, which I'd never done before, but it's not bad. For toppings I like cheese, sour cream, and French's fried onions (or any kind of fried onion/crispy onion salad topper).
Hello! Today is "jue-rnes" for me. My only lesson for tomorrow was cancelled, so both DH and I have the day off. Hurray! It's still chilly and raining here. The local news says we've had 20 days of rain in January. Yesterday we had a few hours of sun so I whipped the lawnmower out and cut the lawn as fast as I could. It was pretty obscene.
QOTD: Mmmm. Meat and beans in my chili please! I prefer cheese on top. Yum!

Fried onions on top sounds awesome!! I may have to try that :-)

Good Evening! Today started with a package. I had placed an order with my Amazon gift certificates and the tracking said it should arrive between Feb. 2 & 20, but when I checked this morning it was on my doorstep. Whoo-Hoo! Fourteen books for just $16! I am thrilled. 12 mysteries, the next-in-series Pink Carnation book, and Robert Clary's autobiography (he played Louis LeBeau on Hogan's Heroes). There is some good reading coming up.
I talked to my Mom and they are fine. They got mainly sleet and freezing rain, with just flurries of snow, but it isn't supposed to get above freezing until after sunrise on Thursday morning, so they are still hunkered down at home. And the insurance company is planning on subrogating against Entergy Louisiana regarding the power surge, so maybe Entergy will actually come out and look at the transformer that has been arcing since Hurricane Isaac in 2012! One can hope anyway.
QOTD: My favorite is a ground beef and bean chili, with tomatoes and onions, not very spicy at all and I always make a double batch so that I can use the leftovers for chili-ghetti. When I make chili for DH and me for dinner, I make a three-bean chili with sweet corn, and I dial down the spice in the recipe because DH is a self-proclaimed spice wimp. The beef chili I serve with (crushed) saltine crackers and shredded cheddar cheese. The vegetarian chili I serve with cornbread and reheat any leftovers with cheesy-cornmeal dumplings.
Good morning! I planned to sleep in today and realllyy did. Yay! I have been feeling really tired because of the dark weather every day and have been having a lot of trouble to write the stuff I need to be writing. I want to have my draft done by tomorrow afternoon though. Today I need to really get some writing done and finish my syllabus. First I am going to do some grocery shopping, but the afternoon should be productive. This weekend we have no commitments and I was hoping to have brunch at a new place.
QOTD: I eat it vegetarian and very spicy. Love it with cornbread. We sometimes put cheese or sour cream on top.

Good Morning! I have some work to do at home, and then I go in and teach from 4-9. I don't work on Fridays, so I like Thursdays. I'm going to Munich to look at apartments (again ) this weekend. We can't find anything we like.

Morning! Today is my last day of work for the week. Tonight I'm heading to my parents' place so I can take my dad to a specialist to have some skin cancer removed. The appointment is in the city about an hour and a half away, and I'm the only one who can handle interstate driving. But, it'll be good to have some dad time as well.
Chili: mild to medium spice. Tons of beans and veg (onion, bell peppers, corn, etc.). No meat, and elbow macaroni is a must!

Still in night weaning here. When you're going through hell - keep going. Churchill
QOTD: Meaty! If I'm eating grain-free no beans but lots of veggies. Top it off with half an avocado and loads of Frank's.
If I am being a beast: meaty with beans, no veg, cheese and sour cream, lots of Frank's and tortilla chips to eat it off of. That would be a great late day hangover meal. With a beer.
Good morning! I'm working an earlier day than usual today. I'm going to the Slovenian Embassy party tonight and a friend is coming with me. I'm very glad that the roads melted down. It is unusually cold here. Although it is not as bad as other parts of the country, it much colder than normal here. I am ready for it to ease up.
QOTD: I don't eat chili that often but I do like it. I've never really had spicy chili but I might actually like it. I tend to like spicy food. If there's meat in it, I only like beef, otherwise I also like vegetarian chili. I like beans a lot so they are necessary. I'm flexible about the type of beans. I've rarely met a legume that I didn't like.
I love onions, can't have too many of them and a little bit of garlic. You can sneak most veggies into chili and I will eat it. I'm not really wild about corn in my chili though I'd still eat it. I do like cornbread or spoonbread. I've never liked my chili with pasta. I'd rather have it with something like bbq or honey bbq'd wings. I like chili on its own as well. I actually like eating it with green beans on the side too.

Not Rodney Atkins?
I feel for you. DD was not a fan of weaning. I had to wean when I started chemo. I felt basically dead and I was sure that an angry baby would tip me over the edge.
I feel like she got much more reasonable after 10 days or so. How far in are you? Of course every kid is different, but hopefully the end is in sight for you.

On day 7. Last night he slept in his crib 11pm to 3:30am (we're also moving from bed-sharing to crib) and no nursing or milk from 11pm to 7am. Calling it a good night. Hopefully a trend.
Nice to hear things got better after 10 days. Loosely following the Dr. Jay Gordon night weaning method and he says 7-10 days and most babies/toddlers get the message that the all night milk bar is over.
Have extra motivation because DH just said if I can get this kid off the boob for 24 hrs in the next two weeks, I can go to Paris on my own!!!
@bandwife - Thanks, I'm just trying to manage, one day at a time. I hope you get that trip to Paris. I love Paris! I bet you will be home free if you can stick it out for another week.
