I have a friend who works for a London PR firm. She was at a party and ran into the ex-husband of a popular 90s TV actress. That TV actress had told her now ex-husband that in early 2005 (when she was single), she was approached by Tom Cruise's people to be "married" to him in exchange for a lot of money and film roles if she wanted because he is gay and covering it up. She turned it down and she said that Katie Holmes said yes.

So yeah, now I really do think the whole marriage was a fake. I just feel sorry for the kid. I also think that if Tom Cruise really is gay, he should come out and live an authentic life, but eh it's his life not mine. I really don't spend much time thinking about celebrities.

Maybe Scientology has a negative view of homosexuality? Does anyone know? If so, maybe he doesn't want to jeopardize is position in the church by coming out.

Surely not. It was probably a long journey to Earth, and I'm betting Lord Xenu's ship had a predominantly male staff. Surely he had urges along the way!

I don't know why he wouldn't just come out either but maybe he thinks that it would effect his blockbuster status. Allright, I'll go ahead and say who the actress was who said that - Neve Campbell. She was married to a Brit whom my friend bumped into at a party.

As for Suri, I have no idea how she was made. I'm just glad that I wasn't there.

John Travolta is also an aging mega star, a scientologist and has lately been accused of multiple male sexual assaults. I have no backdoor celebrity knowledge about him though.

They are actors. They didn't a really good job at this role convincing me they were kissing. Must have been mis-cast

I STILL think it's Chris Klein's kid, but who knows - maybe they did something artifically and she actually is Tom's. If Katie gets full custody then I'll FULLY believe that it's not actually his child.

It's so sad that they live these fake lives - Tom & John Travolta. I just wonder what motivates those women to stay? The lifestyle? The money? Is it worth it for 9 years of your life Katie?? Well she's walking away with 3 mil for each year - so 27 mil right?

Yeah, celebs are messed up. It does seem like some of them do warp their personal lives for money and fame. I'm thinking of Kim Kardashian's wedding where she had to have 3 gowns and be on the cover of every magazine only to dump him after a couple months. She basically did it for the money (from photo rights) and the attention.

Katie Holmes's career was definitely going nowhere before she paired up with Tom Cruise. As it is, she ended up getting replaced in the Batman series and I went to a private screening of Don't Be Afraid of The Dark when it was in the test audience phase. Terrible, I had to walk out. That wasn't all her fault though. That was just a bad movie all around.

Anyway, I don't begrudge her anything but I will be interested to see if she's able to parlay this divorce into increased fame due to sympathy. Kind of like how Rihanna got way more famous after the Chris Brown incident. (Don't get me wrong, Rihanna didn't ask for that awful thing to happen, but she definitely milked it to get more famous). I think that at the end of the day getting ahead through notoriety for one's personal life only gets a celebrity so far. The most talented people let their work speak for itself, they don't need to put their personal lives on display for attention.

This whole thread makes it seem like I care about celebrities way more than I do. I love the creative arts but I don't envy people for being famous. Obscenely rich? Yes. Famous? No.
