I'm still only in preseason Half IM training, but I feel like I'm already CONSTANTLY washing and hang drying workout clothes/sports bras. Which makes me want to buy MORE so I don't have to wash them so often but I really really shouldn't.
There is no point to this post other than hoping others will commiserate....
YES! I am always washing them and the worst part is I do not have a laundry room so they are always spread out all over to dry; on the bed, over the baskets in my bedroom, on furniture, over the edge of the tub.
In December I did the RW streak (ran at least 1 mile every day from Thanksgiving through the new year) and that was the height of it. Now though halfway through the week I'm doing laundry and I'll put my work clothes aside because I figure I won't wear them again for at least another 2 weeks, but the socks(!!) always have to be done. Never enough socks.
Just buy more clothes. or run more races for the free shirts. This is what I do. I hate laundry.
I'm pretty set for summer, but I need more winter workout gear. especially tights. I end up doing midweek laundry on account of tights shortage because I only have 3 pair.
Yes, and I don't put many of them in the dryer so it's a constant battle to have something that is both clean and dry. I HATE laundry in general, so it's always piled up. My workout clothes always get first priority :-)

We don't have a laundry room either, our W/D is in a hallway. We do have a drying rack which is constantly filled and sitting in our spare bathroom. It's even worse now that my husband is on week 3 of a pretty good workout kick, as a few of his good wicking shirts I don't want to dry either!
I refuse to put my good athleta stuff in the dryer so I need to just deal!
this is probably a good place for this confession:
H doesn't line dry his workout clothes. he just puts them in the dryer with a dryer sheet. I haven't told him that dryer sheets destroy wicking fabrics because I don't want to share my drying rack. he already takes my laundry basket on the regular.

Yes. During a heavy workout/swim streak, I might have 5 swimsuits and 2-3 pairs of running capris on the line drying. I put socks and shirts in the dryer, though.

This is news to me. I don't put my pants or bras in the dryer but I do put my shirts in. I guess I should stop (at least with my favorites). I'm gonna need a drying rack.
Yes, our cleaning lady does the laundry, but I have to wash clothes in between visits in the winter because my laundry basket gets too full due to all my winter workout gear. #FWP

Real question. Not really being a smart ass. Can you guys just dry things without using dryer sheets? lol
There are a lot of things I prefer not to dry, but sometimes it is just out of control with everything sprawled out air drying. Every now and then I wash on gentle cycle & then just dry on extra low heat. It's basically glorified air drying.
Yes but to be honest, I enjoy it. It shows how many times I've worked out that week and makes me feel good. And even more excuse to procure more workout clothes as one can never have enough!
Yes with yoga, running, XT, yoga teacher training, all I do is wash wo clothes ESP since I like to wash them in smaller loads and more often so they aren't sitting there in their stench. Ever other day or so I do wo clothes washing, hang dry, folding and organizing lol Oddly enough it's the only laundry I don't mind doing. I enjoy it actually lol. It's like the more I have to wash the better i feel. I'm proud of how often I have to wash the wo clothes esp since I own a ton lol it means I get to wo a lot! :-)
My W/D is also in the hallway, side by side, so I have the folding rack pull out from the wall over the dryer when I need it. Otherwise i put a rack up in my hallway which is always annoying.
I've decided to try and get through as many outfits as I can before needing to wash anything, to see if half the stuff I own is even worth it anymore. I'm a workout clothes hoarder.... I even have 10ish pairs of Soffie cheer shorts in my spare bedroom that I haven't worn in 8 years...

I don't just because I want my more expensive athleta stuff to last as long as possible and I don't want it tossed around in the dryer on even a low heat. Although now that I think about it, I'm not really sure if this logic makes any sense.
clseale, Does your stuff seem to still hold up even after putting it in the dryer a bunch?

Yes...I think? I mean, I don't really have anything to compare it to. All of my stuff is still in really great shape, and I wash them a ton. With the obscene amount of money I have invested in LLL gear, I should probably hand wash and air dry, but who has time for that? I get the extreme heat, and I never wash with jeans, or that type of stuff, but I figure if it can withstand 3 hour long runs, yoga, sweat wringing in the summer, races, etc, a little low heat fluffing in the dryer isn't going to hurt it. At least that's what I tell myself. lol I turn it inside out, only wash it on gentle with other gear, never use fabric softener or dryer sheets, and still only air dry some things.

Yep, same here too.
Even if I owned more, I'd still be washing a small load of laundry every night. I sweat like a 300lb truck driver when I exercise, and I can't let that stuff ferment in my laundry room.
Yes! My laundry consists of scrubs, underwear, and workout clothes. I put all my workout stuff in the dryer though, on extra low without dryer sheets, and most of what I have has lasted multiple years. I don't have the space or motivation to hang everything.
my drying rack has a permanent place in our rental living room Once my house is finished (please dear Lord, in the next month!), my laundry room will be roomy enough to hold it!
It is especially bad right now - I live in Texas - I own one pair of thermal tights (and I always question why I own them when I see them in the drawer 10 months out of the year) and they are 1 of three pair of full length tights I own.
I ran on Tuesday morning, my washing machine broke Tuesday night before I did laundry. My biggest concern was for run this morning - but in the end the snow forced me to the treadmill.
In the summer I can go 4 runs before I run out of my favorite Juno sports bra, then I have some Fionas for dire needs - it was an investment. The real game changer was the 10 pair of injinji socks I got from a groupon deal, before I only had three pair. I usually hang wet, dirty clothes on the side of the bathtub to dry between laundering.
I have a lot of pricey workout clothes, I throw them in the dryer on low heat - no issues, except hats, structured sports bras, jackets and compression grear - those get hung to dry. Some of my lulu stuff is about four years old and still going strong. I even put my super delicate Lulu swiftly shirts in a mesh bag and they go washer to dryer. I used to hang everything, but it got old fast.

you can, but they get staticky. I guess you could use liquid fabric softner (not sure if that ruins wicking too) or vinegar in the rinse cycle.
but our washing machine doesn't have a fabric softner/vinegar dispenser, so we use the sheets.
ETA: just remembered that you live in FL. so yes, YOU can probably live without fabric softner. I just got shocked when I went to open the door of my office. I cannot go without fabric softner.

You can also use wool dryer balls to help cut back on the static.
My poor husband, I refused to wash workout clothes when I was on rest because it made me jealous. He didn't realize how much he used or how bad they'd get stinky, haha.
