pagas, mine was nearly identical to yours, but without the canopy. It was my mom's and aunt's when the were kids, and we had 2 full matching sets - twin beds, dressers, hutches, corner desks, and night stands.
OMG Yes. And the canopy bed to match. Let me see if I can a photo. looking back now it was pretty hideous. And does any one remember the overused hideous breadspread and sheets that has small different color hearts al over it? That was a must have.
Very similar - almost identical hardware, but no gold embellishment. I had white eyelet bedding and matching curtains. This was such a classic look for that era (80s).
I have that dresser in my guest bedroom right now! It was my grandparents' set & has a queen bed (no canopy). I don't love it, but at least it's a whole set in excellent condition. My husband HATES it!
My mom has offered to take it to her house & buy us a new bedroom set, but I feel guilty having her buy us a set & she refuses to take this set without replacing it.
My sister and I had matching white steel daybeds with gold bed knobs.
I really wanted a canopy so when we each got our own room my mom made a curtain thing that was attached to the ceiling and came down at the two front corners of my bed.
My sister & I shared a room and had these, too.
When we got out own rooms, I was upgraded to an oak daybed. It's currently my son's bed.
Yup. No canopy, but we had this wonderful piece of design, which was where my dolls lived.
I had the hutch over my desk, not dresser. And yep, I had the fancy shmancy canopy bed (I took the canopy off when I hit about 13/14!). No gilding on mine, though...it was french white with off white accents. My sister had the same set (no canopy, though...poor her!) with the accent trim in pale blue.

I had a sleeping bag on the floor inside my iron bed frame, because it was an antique bed and needed a specially made mattress. I was very jealous of my brothers modern beds with actual mattresses.
My parents were fucking weird. I did end up with a mattress in a year or so.

To this day, I would probably step over my mother for a canopy bed. DD is getting ready to graduate to a big girl room and I intend to heal all my old childhood deprivation wounds by letting her pick every ridiculous girly thing her heart desires.
I did. It was a hand me down from my sister who had it as a hand me down from our older neighbor. When I pregnant with my twins, I sanded it, painted it, and changed the knobs. We just threw it out about 6 months ago. The wood railings that the drawers go on were shredded and had been replaced a few times. That thing must have been at least 30+ years. It looked cute painted. I painted it light pink, lavender drawers, and purple daisy drawer pulls. It was my first furniture project and I was so proud, ha ha
I did too, canopy bed and all.. My brother used to think that they were bunk beds and used to cry when I told him he couldnt sleep in my room! looking back now, maybe he has always been a little off. lol
