I'm running a half in one month and haven't ran more than twice per week during my "training". My longest run was last weekend at 7.2. I'm planning on 8.5 this Sat.
This weather/snow has KILLED my training.
Honest opinions- do you guys think I'm screwed? I do a ton of HIIT training throughout the week.
Screwed? No. HIIT can contribute quite a bit to your fitness. With that said, it's probably time to crack down. Is this your first, or have you done a few? You have 4 weeks after this weekend's run? If so, I'd do your 8.5, then shoot for 9.5, 10.5, 8, race.
As you can see, you're in good company. Lol Apparently we are all ill prepared for our halves.
That makes me feel a lot better!
It's my second, and I'm not going for speed, just completing it
That's what I'm going to plan for mileage, thanks!
I'm still in pregnancy mode, eating-wise. Too much sugar, too much crap. I just started back up with MFP, and it has definitely been an eye-opener!
It has taken me 2 years to get out of pregnancy eating mode. The only difference I made after giving birth was adding wine to the daily diet. I'm doing better about cutting out the crap, but the wine stays.

Wine should always stay. That's one of my life rules.
Part of the reason I love yoga is because there are no mirrors and it's dark. Today I did a bootcamp class and hated it, partially because I had to look at my body. I think I look great but it's the standing next to someone 20 lbs smaller than me or a different "skinnier" body type that kills me.
Also, I hated the bootcamp class. It was so boring. I can sprint and do situps anywhere--it's not worth $28 and I'm glad I got a free class.

If you are looking to complete it and not bust out a monster PR, you'll be fine. If you can get another run or two during the week from now until your race, you'll be even better off. Have fun!
I am about to eat Girl Scout cookies--Samoas, probably 3-4. The box is calling my name.
I only bought one pair of shorts at Athleta tonight. Then I ordered 4 more pairs online. Oops! (I will probably keep 2 and send 2 back. One style is a duplicate in size since I'm not sure what size I'll take in it as they didn't have them in store. )
I had white chocolate and spoonfuls of hummus out of the container for dinner THREE nights this week.
I am considering skipping my run today to take DD to the beach. I could easily do both, it doesn't have to be one or the other, I just don't want to push BOB again.

I haven't gone for a good run since my half marathon in January. I did a 10K, but walked pretty much the whole time. I feel like I didn't deserve that medal at the finish line. Rather, I've been getting into strength training, which is all fine and dandy, but I seriously miss running.
I've been snacking way too much lately, especially in the afternoon after work. I need to get rid of the sugar in my diet..the cravings are intense. I really miss the drive I had in the beginning of 2013 for weight loss.
Some days I don't know why the hell I'm doing this. What am I trying to prove? Who the fuck do I think I am?
I also keep thinking I'm not in very good shape because I missed some time this week being sick. I wonder if, in 11 weeks, I can be even in half shape, let alone full shape! I knew to expect some ups and downs but here they are and they suck.
ETA: Also, I hate complaining, so please don't mind me. Just let me leave this little vent here and move alongÂ
Are you inside my brain? Same exact confession right here

You have a lot in your bank! That's why it's not going to hurt you if you missed a few days last week. It's not like you missed a whole month or more. Life happens to every ironman in training; work, spouse, kid , family commitments, sickness. You'll be golden!
I'm running a half marathon in less than a month and the last time I ran was 10 days ago. I can't get it up for training. The marathon killed my motivation. I just need to get through this half and then I'm taking a break from running for strength training.

I have never run a full, but last spring I had this happen with two back to back halves. I trained for the one, then did it, and then did not train very well for the second. I took a year long break from training for any races, dropped down to about 8 miles a week of running, and it was SO good for me. I lost weight, started strength training again, and now I love training for my races since I took so long off!

Sounds like what I've been doing to prepare for the full marathon I'm running in April. My training has been totally lame this month.
If you're screwed, then I guess I'll be seeing you in the afterlife as well (but I think you'll be fine)
Add me to the list of poorly trained for an April half I just can't get into running lately and this brutal winter has killed any motivation that I had. My best friend and I are doing it together and she emailed me and said, "my running has been nonexistent, let's make a deal that if we don't get our acts together in time, we'll just do a jog/walk and bullshit with each other for the entire 13.1 miles" I'm totally okay with that!

My biggest workouts since my marathon have involved lifting heavy glasses of booze and forkfuls of all the food into my mouth. I'm eating like a maniac and have run exactly twice. Something must change...

This is what I'm thinking of doing. I definitely want to maintain a running base, so maybe like 10-15 miles/week. We're also moving to a new city this summer which will throw some craziness into my life. Not to mention I'm moving from pancake flat roads to the land of hills! I'll need to ease my way in to it. I'm excited to focus on something else for a while.
another ill-prepared halfer checking in. I'm just going to train through this one and hope for a solid, if not PR-worthy, effort at my ten miler in 5 weeks.
I didn't run yesterday because it was too windy and cold. fuck winter man. I just can't anymore.
I'm nervous about what this injury is doing to my mental state.
I am giving a huge side eye to people that say they forget to eat - I can't wrap my brain around that.
hey! weren't you not going to weigh yourself in 2014? was that you?
I used to forget to eat when I was working on my thesis. I distinctly remember dragging myself from in front of my computer when I could no longer ignore the rumbling in my tummy to put a piece of fish on the george forman grill and eating that and a can of green beans in front of the computer while writing because that was all I had in the house. it was dark out and I hadn't eaten since breakfast.

remind me where you are moving to? I live in the hilliest area, it is so rough. But you will adjust!

I'm skipping my run today. It's too damn cold. Wind chill near zero. I'm not motivated enough to hit up the TM. I want to lay on the couch in my PJs and eat cookie dough.
I bailed on my run, too, this morning. I usually don't mind the cold much, and my running partner and I have been pretty good about making our 5:30 a.m. runs through this winter, but when I saw the weather report about this morning's wind chill, I just couldn't. I have to factor in extra time for putting on all those layers in the morning. It is getting old. I am getting fat. Bleah.
