In less than 24 hours I will be in my way to completing my first marathon. I am nervous. My 22 miler was 3 weeks ago and the taper crazies have gotten to me. I am excited though. The temp at race start is supposed to be 41 degrees. Haven't decided what to wear exactly so I am packing it all. DH and I leave at 2 today to drive down to fabulous Albany, GA. Any advice or last minute tips? Good luck to all the racers this weekend! Let's kill it!
Try to relax, enjoy, and have a wonderful race! With a 22-miler in the books you are more than prepared. I hope weather stays great. I'd vote shorts & a tech t-shirt, depending on how warm you get. Then I'd bring a light long-sleeve layer & maybe gloves to toss because 40 can be chilly before you get moving. (What am I saying... It's 10 below outside my door again today!)
I've got a 4 mile race this weekend. Longest race for me. I tried to do 4 miles this morning on the treadmill but ran out of time so jumped off at 3 miles.
I have the Albany half. No real time goal, just planning to see how I feel. You're going to do awesome, jamalynn! The weather is going to be amazing. Try to relax and enjoy it. You only get one first marathon.
ETA:I'm planning on capris and a tank, but I also thew a pair of shorts in my bag at the last minute. I also have a pair of toss gloves, because my hands/fingers get so cold & frozen. Target has some for $0.99 if you're looking for some.

Good luck racers!
jamalynn, you're going to have a great race! I hope you enjoy every minute (well, ok, as many minutes as possible) and cross that finish line beaming with pride that you have earned!

Are you going to pace your marathoning friend in after you're done?
I am! I'm hoping to come in around the 1:40 mark. My PR is 1:42, so even if I don't PR, I should still be in around that time. That will give me roughly 80 min to get to the 20 mile mark. We're bringing bikes, so I'll hop on DH's handle bars (her DH will be on the 2nd bike), and he'll get me up to mile 20 to get on the course when she passes.
I'm so excited for her! She should have 4:00 by a solid 5 min. She ran her 22 miler at an 8:47. She's just afraid of going out too fast (which is why she didn't break 4:00 at her last race), so she's planning on pacing very conservatively at 9:00. She told me she might want me to pick up the pace for her in the last 6 miles, but we'll see how she feels.

Man, I remember when I used to be able to say I'd be finished that fast. *sigh* Have fun!

I have some throw away gloves packed. DH is taking his bike so he can see me several times throughout the race. I can't decide what to wear though. I have capris and shorts, short and long sleeve shirts. Decisions, decisions.
Doesn't tuggyruns have Napa this weekend?? So jealous! Good luck, tuggy!!
Yes, just dropping in to post this! So nervous, my legs feel like logs lately
Been out in California since Wed, just trying to take it easy though.

You'll be OK. Don't psych yourself out. 26.2 miles through CA winery goodness! You enjoy every second of it, and then you get your marathoner butt back here to tell us all about it!
