Was this a local race? I'm always on the lookout for new 10 mile races.
Reston 10 miler, it is super hilly, but I like it is a smaller race and you can sit in the car pre-race. It is part of the PR race series and only costs $40, the Perfect 10 in the fall is on the same course.
Still killing it. What have you been doing? I feel like you've had a really great racing streak for the past 6 months or so. Tell me your secrets.
Well I've done a couple of things, so it is hard to pin point the exact thing.
I've lost ~ 20 lbs since the start of 2013. I've read that every 10 lbs lost equates to a minute in a 5k. I'm the the lightest I've been since high school, well before I stuffed my face at brunch:) I just feel faster when I am racing.
I started using the heart rate monitor last year and I realized that I was running most of my training runs too slow. I picked up the pace on my long runs and easy runs. This also helped with the weight loss because I realized I was burning ~20% fewer calories on a run than I had previously estimated.
I also changed my speed work so that I am doing longer speed work, more 800s, 1ks, 1200s, and 1600s instead of the 200s and 400s I was doing before.

I just saw this in an e-mail about the Frederick Half - www.mission10miler.com/ Looks like parts of it are on the same course as the Frederick Half, which I quite enjoyed last year The only issue is that it's the weekend before CB
