We recently started giving raw marrow bones to our beagle. If your dog has healthy teeth that collect gunk, you should try giving him one. She literally chewed all the chunks of built up tartar off. It's pretty incredible. Her build up is so bad that 3 months after a teeth cleaning they'll tell us she needs another one. This solution is *much* cheaper.
Where do you get them? Just at petsmart? I'm reading that its super rich and might give the dog diarrhea, have you had that problem? Mine gets diarrhea pretty easily, I'm reading that you can scoop out one of the marrow to avoid this but I'm not familiar with these bones so I'm not sure how to do that.
I get them at a natural foods pet store that is local to me. I'm sure you have a few in your area if you live in a decent sized city.
The marrow honestly isn't the part that works. It's her chewing the meat off the outside of the bone. We haven't had any diarrhea issues, but you could certainly take out the marrow and let him chew the outside. It's literally just a chunk of bone and the marrow runs through the center. They come frozen, so let one thaw a bit, then take a spoon or butter knife and dig out the marrow. Also, if you're going to do this, just make sure you supervise him while he's chewing. Don't leave him alone with it. If he starts getting chunks off the bone, it's time to take it away, but it'll work its magic before that happens.
if i my husband doesn't stop asking why i didn't do things as if he is actually curious, i'll kill him.
"are these folded and sorted clothes on the couch clean or dirty? they've been here for days."
"is this empty soda bottle on the counter for a reason? are you saving it for something?"
jerkface, just throw it away!! i clean up after you without an announcement all damn day!
I do this to my H, but he's a messy hoarder. Lol. He leaves empty water bottles all over the kitchen counter. Used coffee cups from Starbucks or the gas station, he says he's going to reuse them for work in the mornings but he has at least 3 thermal coffee mugs.
