Interesting...I appreciate the ackowledement and apology. But I'm not really sure I want to go back. So far, so good here. I think they've really gone too far.
I think so too. Why today, nearly a week after the fact? They KNEW there were issues the first day, and that same day we all talked about leaving. So now that they know we weren't bluffing they want to say they're sorry, while offering no real solution to the problem? I think I'm pretty comfortable here.

I think she totally missed the point. People were pissed that the Knot changed format to begin with and then to force everyone else along was even worse. The first red flag was when all the local boards were converted and suffered as a result. This should have been a big wake up call that the new format was not cutting it and an alternate format should have been established. And with a company the size of The Knot/Nest/Bump, they should have this in-house IMHO.
They probably signed a contract with this vendor and "had" to go along with it.
There is always a way out - even if it costs you money. I can only imagine the loss of fan base + the corresponding impact it will have on the advertisers will cost more than the loss they would have suffered breaking their contract.

well you have to figure most of us are probably going over there just to "check" and there is some posting. Where did you read that? The probably nest gods trying to not make it sound too bad "see 60% of you are still here"

There are always going to be spin off boards and what not, but this is just a mass exodus. The Parenting Board on the Bump lost the majority of its members recently, but nothing like level. Heck, I remember the days of the Nest/Bump when if you missed a day on the boards there were pages and pages of posts. The Nest/Bump has certainly lost its fair share of members over the years, I think that this is just the most ever at one time.
Oh, and I don't remember where I read the 40%, I was lurking somewhere
Wow, everybody did notice. If it was just a format change, I would've stayed. But it has sucked and sucks worse now. Why can't they do something like this board? They should've done a little more research on their 3rd party vendor. And them passing the buck like that doesn't help. Apology or not.
That's actually kind of a relief that it's a Hold. I've been thinking that I should sell my KNOT, because so many old hands have left that I don't think TheNest is going to recover so well. At least with the hold recommendations it hasn't plummeted. Yet. Think I'll still sell.
There will always be people planning weddings and people having babies, but without a core user group, there's not a lot keeping people on TheNest. I remember when it was first created, and the only thing that made it work was the huge group of Knotties who were so over wedding planning. For the rest of the interest boards, there are other places on the web that will draw more traffic, and you won't get Knot/Bump transitioners without board activity. Some of the existing boards never took off at all.
