I feel like it took about 6 weeks or so for the bleeding to stop.
I was okay with this, though, because my larger concern at the time was the fact that my bladder was really confused about appropriate times to release itself. I kept randomly peeing all over the place. Not like pee drops, but rather full bladder just going, "Oh! We're sitting at the dining room table? Time to peeeeee!"
I thought I was going to be in diapers forever. It was maybe only 3 or 4 weeks, but it felt like A LOT longer.
Have you had your 6 week followup? I think, rather than length of time, you should be watching (and communicate with your OB) the pattern or severity of bleeding. Is it bright red? Do you soak through a maxi pad within an hour? Is there pain with bleeding? Stuff like that.
There are some aspects of my near future that I have been living in denial about. This is one of them. Pads are going to drive me insane. When I had a m/c and had to wear them for a few days it drove me crazy, weeks is going to be so, so tough.
C section-about 3-4 weeks or so? I was nursing and supplementing with formula for the first month-once I stopped the half assed BF I got my first pp period at like 6 weeks.
Well, I understand that.. But, after 6-8 weeks.. Wouldn't everything be, like, out?
Nope. Well normal is considered up to 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, there could be a problem, but not necessarily. Just like some women's periods are 3 days, while others are 7. The body is interesting
4wks, vaginal birth, exclusive Breastfeeding at that point.
My OB also remarked that I had one of the smallest placenta she'd seen, so I wonder if that didn't have something to do with the minimal bleeding.
Oh god. I just remembered I had to give my best "die, bitch" face to some nursing students who crashed O's delivery and then commented that mine was the biggest placenta they'd ever seen. I got my nurse to kick them out two seconds later. Seriously. Stu about the size of my placenta!

roughly by 6 weeks. But if I over did things, probably up until 9 or 10 weeks, I would pay for it with the "breakthrough bleeding and sore incision area" double whammy.
C section, and it stopped at 6 weeks when I got my first PP period. I also got my mirena put in at that time, and then had spotting for another month or so from that.

For me, overdoing it, being slow to heal in general and a large placenta factored in I think. Plus an infection.
My Ob's office really pissed me off about it actually as I had pain problems that they acted like were in my head until they finally did an antibiotic, I didn't have any retained stuff at a sono two weeks ago but they threw an antibiotic at me in case I had an infection. Seems I did. Day three I had some relief and day seven significant relief.
Thanks for posting this @misoangry. I feel less alone in how long it took. I didn't want to start a thread since I remember frkls saying how newbies seem to always start threads about bodily functions
