Last night was weird. I woke up a million times to pee, which actually isn't normal for me. Around 4:15 I noticed some cramping and it kept waking me up so I decided to track it. Looks like it might be contractions coming around every 8 mins or so. I've had an upset stomach since (the kind that makes you run to the bathroom...) and there was a little blood.
Showering up, putting the final touches on the hospital bag, and possibly heading to the hospital.
I didn't think this would happen today - I have a mani appt this afternoon and H and I are supposed to have the car seat checked at the police station tonight!
You guys, I'm starving already! The doctor told me not to ingest anything other than clear liquids. Between the diabetes and the fact that I haven't eaten since 10 last night, this seems like a recipe for disaster. I feel like I'm going to run out of energy quickly, especially since last night's sleep was really disrupted.
Contractions are getting further apart.
Hope you all don't mind the play by play. It's helping me keep my cool. Now that this is happening, I want it to be really happening- afraid we're going to go to the hospital and they'll just send us home!
Yeah, I would totally eat. You could drink some chicken broth, that would give you some calories and protein. I was on clear liquids while in labor last time, and I got some of that for "lunch."
Good luck! I am so confused why you can't eat. We are encouraged to eat so that we keep our strength up. That and I drank a lot of Lucozade sport (similiar to Gatorade) when I was in labour with DS. You need your strength. It called labour because it is a lot of hard work.

I am NOT a doctor or a medical professional of any sort. I would eat something for sure. The eating thing is a precaution in case you need a csection and lessens the risk of aspiration. I think eggs and toast sounds perfect, protein and carbs. GL!

Yep, this is what I read too, re the aspiration risk. I just had an English muffin with a little bit of peanut butter. Hoping that will hold me over for a bit.

I had some Campbell's chicken noodle soup for lunch when I was in labor with my second (before I went to hospital) and didn't have any issues. With my first the only thing I had eaten was an apple and Gatorade which I vomited in the hospital even though I had eaten it eight hours later and was starving. I say eat a little something.
In triage. Nurse thinks this is early early labor. I'm having contractions, but she says they're "not impressive". Still at 1cm, but my cervix is super soft. She thinks I'll progress quickly once the contractions really get going.
She could feel baby's head.
I am scared out of my mind, both for labor and for having a kid...terrified.
Well, I am in labor, but I got sent home because I'm still at 1cm. My contractions feel more intense, but they don't want me to come back until I'm at a 3 or 4...how I'll know this, I have no clue. I wouldn't have thought Id still be a 1 right now. The nurse said that the contractions will feel like an elephant sitting on my sternum, that it will be hard to breathe. I have a hard time waiting until that point especially since we are 40mins from the hospital!

Good thing you ate! I don't know about the elephant thing, but I think you will be able to tell when things start ramping up. I went to the hospital at 4 cm and at that point I could not walk/talk through my contractions, I just wanted to pull my hair or rock on all fours.
Try not to be nervous about labor. Just take it as it comes, let YH and (later) your nurse give you emotional support. You'll get through it and feel like a freaking rockstar for doing so.
