Yeah my mom is still here. All of us are trying to convince her to move in with me now bc she's in a 2300sqft for her and a cat right now. She is still healthy and very able to take care of herself, and my ILs watch the kids since my mom is not old enough to retire (58. My dad is 60). She feels like it'd be pointless to move in right now bc she's not useful here yet. But we think it's pointless for her to live in a big house by herself, esp since they are asking h to now the (giant) lawn and me to help my mom with kitty litter. But whatever. She is messy anyway. I'll wait till she's too old to make a mess.

My parents want to be "snow birds" and live with my brother in the winter/fall, me in the summer spring.

My inlaws are conflicted bc SIL doesn't want to move back to Seattle, and h and I don't plan on leaving. My inlaws prefer warmer weather, but they love bjl too much and SIL may never have kids..she's just a very independent person.

I don't get along with my inlaws (you guys know this), but they are absolutely the best grandparents I could ask for.

Honestly it's pretty common. 2 kids mean 2 sets of grand kids.

A friend of mine lived separately from her dad most her life..her dad's mother was "too old/stubborn to move", but her and her sisters and her mother were moving to America for a better life, etc. So her parents lived separate so dad can take care of grandma, while mom took care of the kids here.

Grandma passed, dad finally moved to the us.
