I did it! I do think if my training had been better and if I'd bought new shoes for this one, I would have met goal #2 of Finishing under 2:45. Goal #1 was to sign up and finish a half, so i did it!
The weather wasn't as bad as I had feared it would be. Light rain/sprinkles for the first 5k, then just overcast and 50.
I ran the first 3 with no stops. I added a 90 second walk break at each mile marker for 3-6. Then I added another 90 at the 5 min after that first. This worked pretty well until mile 10.5'or so and I really started feeling it. The last two miles were brutal, but I did it with a few walking breaks.
I just finished some fabulous chicken & waffles with a side of Gouda cheese grits and a double mimosa. I'll run 13.1 every Sunday if I can have that after.
So excited! So sore! So looking forward to a nap on the couch!
That's awesome! Congratulations. I've heard of chicken & waffles together but never had it. It must not be a Minnesota thing. Grits & cheese on the other hand... Yum! Glad you got to toast your success w/ a Mimosa too!
